Navan Rugby Football Club is an Irish rugby union club, based in Navan, County Meath, Republic of Ireland. They currently (2022-2023) play in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League (rugby union), All-Ireland League. The club was founded in 1924. History Navan were founded in 1924 and played their first match at the Meath County Showgrounds groundsharing with Navan O'Mahonys GAA. They spent most of their existence in their first forty years as a nomadic club with no fixed home ground. In 1964, the club purchased land in Balreask Old Townland for Irish Pound, IR£660 for a permanent rugby pitch and clubhouse. In 2000, the clubhouse was renovated and funded via land sales and through support of the Minister for the Environment (Ireland), Minister for the Environment. Queen's University Belfast Rugby Football Club is the rugby union team of Queen's University Belfast, currently playing in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League. Cashel Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland, playing in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League. Cashel RFC has a 'minis rugby' section which caters for children from U7s up to U12s, a juvenile section for U14s, U16s and U18 and halfs, and a Ladies Rugby section which includes Girls Tag, U18s and a Senior Ladies Team and 3 Senior teams 3rds 2nds and a 1st team. The club was founded in 1919 and has had wins at underage and junior rugby levels in Munster. Its grounds are located at Spafield, near the town of Cashel. The Provincial Towns Cup was established in 1888 and is one of the oldest trophies in existence in Irish rugby union. The trophy itself was purchased in 1892 for £25 from Wests in Dublin and bears the title of Leinster Junior Challenge Cup. In 1925, the Leinster Rugby, Leinster branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union reorganized its junior competitions. The Leinster Junior Challenge Cup became the Provincial Towns Cup. The pound (Irish: ) was the currency of the Republic of Ireland until 2002. Its ISO 4217 code was IEP, and the symbol was £ (or IR£ for distinction). The Irish pound was replaced by the euro on 1 January 1999. Euro currency did not begin circulation until the beginning of 2002. Leinster Rugby ( ga, Rugbaí Laighean) is one of the four professional provincial rugby union teams from the island of Ireland and the most successful Irish team domestically. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup. Leinster play their home games primarily at the RDS Arena, although larger games are played in the Aviva Stadium when the capacity of the RDS is insufficient. Before moving to the RDS in 2005, Leinster's traditional home ground was Donnybrook Stadium, in Dublin 4. Navan O'Mahony's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Navan in County Meath, Ireland. The club competes in Meath competitions. With 20 Senior Football wins they are the most successful football club in Meath. The club has also won 2 Senior Hurling Championships placing them in the top 15 most successful hurling sides in the county. History The idea of forming a new Gaelic football club in Navan was first mooted during a late evening discussion at the house of the late Peter Hughes, Rathaldron, Navan, with co-founders, the late Eddie Duignan and Jack Callaghan spearheading the move. The All-Ireland League (AIL), known for sponsorship reasons as the Energia All-Ireland League, is the national league system for the 50 senior rugby union clubs in Ireland, covering both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The league was inaugurated in the 1990–91 season. The league is the second highest level of rugby union in Ireland, as professional teams representing the four provinces of Ireland play in the United Rugby Championship.
