Naughty Little Doggie
''Naughty Little Doggie'' is the eleventh studio album by American rock singer Iggy Pop released in 1996. The last track, "Look Away", features his tribute to Johnny Thunders and Sable Starr. The photography is by David Sims and Anton Corbijn; and the artwork by Phil Bicker. A video was also made for "To Belong". Music ''Naughty Little Doggie'' has been likened in its style to grunge, with Stephen Thomas Erlewine retrospectively calling it and its 1993 predecessor ''American Caesar'' "grungy detours". Reception Mark Deming of Allmusic gave a mixed review and gave the album 2.5 of 5 stars. He praised the vocal performance of Pop and musicianship of the guitarist and drummer in this release, but criticized the songwriting stating it was not particularly inspiring. Iggy Pop
James Newell Osterberg Jr. (born April 21, 1947), known professionally as Iggy Pop, is an American singer, musician, songwriter and actor. Called the "Honorific nicknames in popular music, Godfather of Punk", he was the vocalist and lyricist of proto-punk band The Stooges, who were formed in 1967 and have disbanded and reunited many times since. Initially playing a raw, primitive style of rock and roll (progressing later towards more experimental and aggressive rock), the Stooges sold few records in their original incarnation and gained a reputation for their confrontational performances, which often involved acts of self-mutilation by Pop. He had a long collaborative relationship and friendship with David Bowie over the course of his career, beginning with the Stooges' album ''Raw Power'' in 1973. Iggy or Iggie is a unisex name and it is often a short form of the Roman Latin names Ignatia (feminine) and Ignatius (masculine), or their derivatives in other European languages. As such the name is derived ultimately from the Etruscan language family name ''Egnat'', the meaning of which is unknown. (The Romans added the Latin nominative endings ''-ia'' and ''-ius''.) The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. "I Wanna Be Your Dog" is a song by American rock band the Stooges. Released as the group's debut single from the band's 1969 self-titled debut album. The riff is composed of only three chords (G, F♯ and E), is played continuously throughout the song (excepting two brief 4-bar bridges). The 3-minute-and-9-second-long song, with its distortion-heavy guitar intro, single-note piano riff played by producer John Cale of the Velvet Underground, and steady, driving beat, gave the cutting edge of the early heavy metal and punk sound. In 2004, the song was ranked number 438 on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time", but it was dropped at number 445 on its 2010 revision, then was re-ranked at number 314 on its 2021 list. Eric Schermerhorn is an American guitarist and composer. He played with Iggy Pop on the ''American Caesar'' and ''Naughty Little Doggie'' albums, and David Bowie on the Tin Machine ''It's My Life Tour'' (as background vocalist and guitarist), and appeared in the video and live record ''Oy Vey Baby''. He later played with They Might Be Giants on ''Factory Showroom'', '' Severe Tire Damage'' and Mono Puff's ''It's Fun To Steal''. ''Instinct'' is the eighth studio album by American rock singer Iggy Pop. It was released in June 1988 by A&M Records. Style After the heavily pop-oriented, radio-ready ''Blah Blah Blah'', A&M expected another hit record from Pop; however, he instead recorded the heavy, hard-rocking ''Instinct''. The album features Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones. Release The album peaked at number 110 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart.
