Natsamrat
''Natsamrāt'' (roughly translated as: ''The King of Theater'' or ''The Emperor of Actors'') is a 2016 Indian Marathi-language drama film starring Nana Patekar in the leading role. Based on a play by the same written by playwright Kusumagraj, the film depicts the tragic family life of a stage actor who has retired from acting but is unable to forget his fond memories of theatre and the stage. It is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by Nana Patekar and Vishwas Joshi under the banner of Great Maratha Entertainment, Gajanan Chitra and Fincraft Media and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The film was officially released in India on 1 January 2016 and became the highest-grossing Marathi film at the time, until Sairat occupied that place. The film was made in Gujarati in 2018 as ''Natsamrat'' and is being made in Telugu with the title '' Rangamarthanda''. ''Natsamrāt'' (roughly translated as: ''The King of Theater'' or ''The Emperor of Actors'') is a 2018 Indian Gujarati-language drama film starring Siddharth Randeria and Deepika Chikhalia in the leading role. The film is the remake of Marathi film of the same name starring Nana Patekar, which was based on Marathi play by V. V. Shirwadkar. Before making it to the big screen as movie, Randeria has adopted the screen play to a Gujarati language stage play named 'Amari Duniya, Tamari Duniya' in 2007 with many known faces of Gujarati theatre like Randeria himhelf, Jimmit trivedi, Disha Savla-Upadhyay etc. The film is the story of an actor who has reached many heights in his career, but has to retire from acting at the peak. Vishnū Vāman Shirwādkar (27 February 1912 – 10 March 1999), popularly known by his pen name, Kusumāgraj, was an Marathi poet, playwright, novelist and short story writer, who wrote of freedom, justice and emancipation of the deprived, In a career spanning five decades starting in India's pre-independence era, he wrote 16 volumes of poems, three novels, eight volumes of short stories, seven volumes of essays, 18 plays and six one-act plays.
