Nationwide (Irish TV Programme)
''Nationwide'' is a television programme shown in Ireland each Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening at 19:00. Produced by RTÉ Cork, and broadcast on RTÉ One for around 30 minutes, it is presented by Anne Cassin and Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh, after long-serving presenter Mary Kennedy reached RTÉ's retirement age in 2019. ''Nationwide'' focuses on human interest stories and cultural events across the country. Format ''Nationwide'' is presented in the form of, most often, two on-site recordings, with one advertising break between them. It has aimed to regionalise news and human interest content, as RTÉ has worked to do previously, albeit without the increased technology and transmission costs, which would likely require total re-engineering of the country's transmission and cable television networks. Michael Ryan (broadcaster)
Michael Ryan (born 1944) ( ga, Mícheál Ó Riain) is a former television broadcaster on Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). He used to present '' Nationwide'', which is broadcast on RTÉ One every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening. Mary Kennedy joined him as co-presenter in later years. He lived in Marino, Dublin Marino () is an inner suburb on the Northside (Dublin), Northside of Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It was built, in a planned form, on former grounds of Marino House, in an area between Drumcondra, Dublin, Drumcondra, Donnycarney, Clont ... as a child. He has two sons, Dylan and Colin Ryan, and a daughter, Lisa. His first wife and the mother of his children, Anne Christine Ryan (née Kearney), died in a car accident in 1995 while travelling home from Waterford, where she ran a successful PR company. RTÉ Concert Orchestra
The RTÉ Concert Orchestra is one of the two full-time professional radio orchestras in Ireland that are part of RTÉ, the national broadcasting station. Since its formation as the Radio Éireann Light Orchestra in 1948, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, has grown from a small studio-based recording group to become an active 45-strong orchestra performing over eighty concerts annually. It is part of RTÉ Performing Groups. The orchestra performs classical, popular and big band evening and lunchtime concerts, covering a range of music from baroque to contemporary. Classical The period from 2003 to 2006 saw a particular emphasis on the classical repertoire under the orchestra's then principal conductor Laurent Wagner.
