Netball Singapore
Netball Singapore, founded in 1962, is the national body for netball in Singapore. In 2002, the Association was named a merit sport by the Singapore Sports Council. In 1999, Netball Singapore established the Netball Super League with six teams competing to emerge as Champion. This opens up an exchange for players from different clubs, ages and skillsets. Netball
Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth nations. A common misunderstanding of the sport's origins has resulted in the mistaken belief that netball was created to prevent women from playing basketball. However, the sport is the result of Clara Baer's misinterpretation of its rules. Singapore National Netball Team
The Singapore national netball team are the national netball team representing Singapore. The Singapore team have competed at seven World Netball Championships (1967, 1975, 1999, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019). They have also won two Nations Cup titles (2005, 2006). In 2005, the Singaporean team won the Asian Netball Championship with a win over the Malaysian team, scoring 53–39 in the finals. As of 30 June 2019, Singapore are 26th on the INF World Rankings. Northern Ireland National Netball Team
The Northern Ireland national netball team represent Northern Ireland in international netball tournaments such as the Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the European Netball Championship and the Nations Cup. The team was founded in 1955. Northern Ireland won the Nations Cup in both 2009 and 2015 and were silver medallists at the 2012 and 2017 European Netball Championships. As of 21 July 2019, Northern Ireland are listed 11th on the INF World Rankings. Since 2019 the team has been sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and is sometimes referred to as the PwC Warriors. The 2019 Six Nations Cup (for sponsorship reasons) also known as 2019 M1 Nations Cup was the thirteenth edition of the Singaporean Nations Cup was held in OCBC Arena from 20–26 October 2019. The tournament featured six nations including hosts Singapore, defending champions Cook Islands along with Botswana, Ireland, Papua New Guinea and Namibia.
