Democratic And Social Centre (Spain)
Democratic and Social Centre ( es, Centro Democrático y Social, CDS) was a liberal political party in Spain, which was founded in 1982 by Adolfo Suárez, former Prime Minister of Spain. The party was a member of the Liberal Democratic and Reformist Group in the European Parliament and the Liberal International. In 2006, most of its remaining members merged into the People's Party, though a reduced faction continued the party, which won some seats in the 2007 local elections. The followers of CDS claimed that their party was the inheritor of the political legacy of the Union of the Democratic Centre (UCD). After resigning both as Prime Minister and party president of the UCD in January 1981, Suarez continued to struggle for control of the party ma ...

Centrism
Centrism is a political outlook or position involving acceptance or support of a balance of social equality and a degree of social hierarchy while opposing political changes that would result in a significant shift of society strongly to the left or the right. Both centre-left and centre-right politics involve a general association with centrism that is combined with leaning somewhat to their respective sides of the left–right political spectrum. Various political ideologies, such as Christian democracy, Pancasila, and certain forms of liberalism like social liberalism, can be classified as centrist, as can the Third Way, a modern political movement that attempts to reconcile right-wing and left-wing politics by advocating for a synthesis of centre-right economic platforms with centre-left social policies. Usage by political parties by country Australia There have been centrists on both sides of politics who serve alongside the various factions within the Liberal and L ...

Canarian Nationalism
Canarian nationalism is a political movement that encourages the national consciousness of the Canarian people. The term includes several ideological trends, ranging from the right to self-determination (and complete independence from Spain) to a demand for further autonomy within Spain. Self-government through history The origins of the Canarian people started with the Spanish conquest of the islands, when the local Guanche Berber population were conquered and eventually assimilated and European-style manorialism introduced in most of the islands. During the last days of the conquest, on 30 May 1481, an aboriginal leader from Gran Canaria called Tenesor Semidán (afterwards baptized as Fernando Guanarteme) signed a peace treaty with Fernando II of Aragon, in the so-called Carta de Calatayud. This treaty defined the archipelago as a kingdom within the Spanish monarchy, establishing the legal framework for its administration and its relationship with Spain. The pact signed in C ...

Political Parties In The Canary Islands
Politics (from , ) is the set of activities that are associated with making decisions in groups, or other forms of power relations among individuals, such as the distribution of resources or status. The branch of social science that studies politics and government is referred to as political science.
