National Security Council (Malaysia)
The Malaysian National Security Council (NSC) ( ms, Majlis Keselamatan Negara Malaysia (MKN), Jawi: مجليس کسلامتن نݢارا مليسيا) is a federal agency under the Prime Minister's Department. NSC is the agency responsible for managing and co-ordinating the implementation of policies related to the security of Malaysia. It is chaired by the Prime Minister of Malaysia and consists of the council's executive members, including the Deputy Prime Minister as deputy chairman, NSC Director General, three ministers (Minister of Defence, Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Communications and Multimedia), the Chief Secretary to the Government, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP). National Operations Council
The National Operations Council (NOC) or Majlis Gerakan Negara (MAGERAN) was an emergency administrative body which attempted to restore law and order in Malaysia after the 13 May incident in 1969, in the wake of the racial rioting which broke out in the federal capital of Kuala Lumpur. The NOC was announced on 15 May 1969, with Tun Razak as Director of Operations, although the other council members were not announced until 17 May. From 1969 to 1971, the NOC governed the country in lieu of the elected government. In 1971, the NOC was dissolved with the restoration of Parliament. The Chief Secretary to the Government ( ms, Ketua Setiausaha Negara) is the most senior officer in the Malaysian Civil Service, secretary to the Cabinet of Malaysia and secretary-general of the Prime Minister's Department. History The title of "Chief Secretary to the Government" in Malaysia dates back to the Federated Malay States. In 1911, it replaced the office of Resident-General as head of the British colonial administration. The inaugural Chief Secretary was Edward Lewis Brockman. Zulkifeli bin Mohd. Zin (born 14 June 1956) is the 18th and the former Chief of Defence Forces of Malaysia. Education He was educated at Sultan Ismail College (SIC) in Kelantan. In 1974, upon completion of his cadet training in Sandhurst, he was first commissioned as a second lieutenant to the 2nd Royal Malay Regiment as a platoon commander on 9 August 1974. National Security Division (BKN)
National Security Division, or Bahagian Keselamatan Negara (BKN), is a senior grouping within the Malaysian government which meets infrequently. According to a United States Embassy telegram leaked by WikiLeaks in 2011, BKN is regarded as Malaysia's equivalent to other national security councils. As of November 2006, it was headed by Director General Ahmad Fuad bin Abdul Aziz, who also served as the Secretary of the National Security Council of Malaysia.
