National Route 1 (Argentina)
National Route 1, also known as Buenos Aires–La Plata Highway and officially called Autopista Doctor Ricardo Balbín since 2004, is a highway that connects the 25 de Mayo Highway and Paseo del Bajo in the city of Buenos Aires with the Provincial Route 11, near the city of La Plata. It has a length of with two or four lanes on each direction in different areas, and is indicated in red in the map. On km marker 31 it connects with National Route A004, the main road to the coastal tourist areas of Mar del Plata and others in Buenos Aires Province. The highway runs (from northeast to southeast) through the partidos of Avellaneda, Quilmes, Berazategui, Ensenada, and La Plata. This highway is currently operated by AUBASA ("Autopistas de Buenos Aires S.A."), a state-owned company owned by the Government of Buenos Aires Province, which also manages most routes to the cities of ''Costa Atlántica''. Berazategui Partido
Berazategui is a partido in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. With an area of and a population of 320,224 (), it is at the southeast of the Greater Buenos Aires urban conglomerate, and its capital is Berazategui city. It was part of the Quilmes Partido until 1960. The majority of the population are concentrated in the city of Berazategui, which has an important commercial district with a pedestrian centre. Retiro, Buenos Aires
Retiro is a ''barrio'' or neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Located in the northeast end of the city, Retiro is bordered on the south by the Puerto Madero and San Nicolás, and on the west by the Recoleta. History Towards the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th was installed in the area, an asiento of slaves belonging to the Compagnie de Guinée and South Sea Company, that operated until 1739. In 1800 began the construction of Plaza de Toros del Retiro, a stadium of bullfighting built by the architect Francisco Cañete, that worked until 1819. In the Plaza de Toros took place the battles between the troops of Santiago de Liniers and the British army, occurred during the English invasions of 1806 and 1807. The city was founded in 1666 and it is the seat of the Quilmes Partido, eponymous county. Avenida General Paz (official name Ruta Nacional A001 - National Route A001) is a beltway freeway surrounding the city of Buenos Aires. Roughly following the boundary between the city and Buenos Aires Province, it is one of the few motorways in Argentina that is toll-free. It carries three lanes of traffic in each direction during most of its length, and five lanes between the Pan-American Highway and the Río de la Plata.
