The United States' National Historic Landmark (NHL) program is operated under the auspices of the National Park Service, and recognizes buildings, sites, structures, districts, and objects according to a list of criteria of national significance. Rhems is an unincorporated community located on the boundary between Williamsburg County and Georgetown County, South Carolina, United States. Indiantown, South Carolina
Indiantown is an unincorporated community in rural Williamsburg County, South Carolina, United States. Prior to the arrival of Europeans to North America, it was the site of a historic Native American village. The Native American tribes recorded as living in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, were the Wee Tee, the Wee Nee (Winyaw), and the Mingo tribes. Early Scots-Irish immigrants developed a settlement around the Indiantown Presbyterian Church (founded 1757), and some of the local Native Americans converted Christianity. During the American Revolution, the church was burned by the British Lieutenant-Colonel Banastre Tarleton. His act resulted in the citizens giving greater support to his opponent, the Continental General Francis Marion. The Indiantown Church is still the center of the community. South Carolina Highway 527 (SC 527) is a state highway in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It travels between Andrews on the Williamsburg– Georgetown county line to Lee County south of Bishopville. The highway travels in a southeast–northwest direction. Route description SC 527 begins on the Williamsburg–Georgetown county line north of Andrews at SC 41. It travels northwest to Williamsburg County's seat, Kingstree where it has a brief concurrency with U.S. Route 52 (US 52). Continuing northwest into Clarendon County, it intersects US 301 and Interstate 95 (I-95) but does not pass through any incorporated municipalities in this county. South Carolina Highway 375 (SC 375) is a state highway in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The highway connects rural areas of Williamsburg County with Greeleyville. Route description SC 375 begins at an intersection with the southern terminus of SC 377 (Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue) south-southwest of Lane, Williamsburg County, where the roadway continues as Santee Road. It travels to the northwest and immediately crosses some railroad tracks. Then, it intersects U.S. Route 52 (US 52; South Williamsburg County Highway). It curves to the north-northwest and passes Mt. The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is the United States federal government's official list of districts, sites, buildings, structures and objects deemed worthy of preservation for their historical significance or "great artistic value". Nesmith, South Carolina
Nesmith is an unincorporated community in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, United States. It was a station on the Seaboard Air Line Railroad (now CSX Transportation) line which was built about 1912. Today it consists of a post office, fire station, and a country store, serving a large rural area which depends on agriculture and logging. Black Mingo Creek flows alongside the hamlet.
