West Bloomfield, New York
West Bloomfield is a town in Ontario County, New York, United States. The population was 2,760 at the 2020 census. The Town of West Bloomfield is on the county's western border and sits parallel to the Town of East Bloomfield, both of which lie south of the City of Rochester. History The town is within the historic homeland of the Seneca Nation, and tradition holds that three of the tribe's villages were located in the town. As such, during the spring season when much of the towns farmland is being plowed, it is not uncommon to find arrowheads and other artifacts.The first Europeans to visit the area were members of the Jesuits in the 17th Century during their westward quests. New York State Route 96
New York State Route 96 (NY 96) is a northwest–southeast state highway in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. The southern terminus of the route is at an interchange with NY 17 (Future I-86) in the Southern Tier village of Owego, Tioga County. Its northern terminus is at a junction with East Main Street in the city of Rochester, Monroe County. Between the two endpoints, NY 96 passes through the city of Ithaca and the villages of Waterloo, Victor, and Pittsford. NY 96 is signed north–south for its entire length, although most of the route in Ontario County travels in an east–west direction. South Bristol is a town in Ontario County, New York, United States. The population was 1,651 at the 2020 census. The name is derived from its separation from the Town of Bristol. The Town of South Bristol is in the southwestern part of the county. It claims to be the smallest town (by population) in the county. History South Bristol was part of the Phelps and Gorham Purchase. New York State Route 245 (NY 245) is a state highway in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. The southern terminus of the route is at NY 21 in Naples. The northern terminus is at NY 5, U.S. Route 20 and NY 14A west of Geneva. From Geneva to Naples, NY 245 traverses the land from the north end of Seneca Lake to the south end of Canandaigua Lake in roughly a northeast to southwest direction. Geneva (city), New York
Geneva is a city in Ontario and Seneca counties in the U.S. state of New York. It is at the northern end of Seneca Lake; all land portions of the city are within Ontario County; the water portions are in Seneca County. The population was 13,261 at the 2010 census. The city is supposedly named after the city and canton of Geneva in Switzerland. Phelps is a village in Ontario County, New York, United States. The population was 1,989 at the 2010 census. The village is named after an original proprietor, Oliver Phelps. The Village of Phelps is near the center of the Town of Phelps and is north of Geneva. A Sauerkraut Festival is held every August. History The community was first settled around 1793, one of the first locations in the town. The village was incorporated in 1855 as "Phelps," having been earlier known as "Vienna." The village had also been mockingly called "Woodpecker City," possibly to mock the villagers, who seemed always busy.
