National Register Of Historic Places Listings In Tennessee
This is a list of properties and historic districts in Tennessee that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are over 2,000 in total. Of these, 29 are National Historic Landmarks. Each of Tennessee's 95 counties has at least one listing. The Tennessee Historical Commission, which manages the state's participation in the National Register program, reports that 80 percent of the state's area has been surveyed for historic buildings. Surveys for archaeological sites have been less extensive; coverage is estimated less than 5 percent of the state. List Of National Historic Landmarks In Tennessee
Following is a list of sites and structures in Tennessee that have been designated National Historic Landmarks. There are 30 National Historic Landmarks located entirely in the state, and one that includes elements in bot. All National Historic Landmarks are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to the National Historic Landmarks, six historic areas in Tennessee that are listed on the National Register are administered by the National Park Service. Woodstock (Trenton, Kentucky)
Woodstock, in Todd County, Kentucky near Trenton, Kentucky was the center of a farm which extended across the state line into Montgomery County, Tennessee. Its main house was built in 1896. That and a second contributing building, a smokehouse, on of land all in Todd County, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. The house was deemed significant for associations with three women: it was a home of the famous author Dorothy Dix (actually Elizabeth Meriwether Gilmer (1861-1951)) and is also associated with "two other interesting and important female members of the Meriwether family, Caroline Ferguson Gordon (1895-1981), and Caroline Meriwether Goodlett (1833-1914), who also gained national reputations in their respective fields." ''The Leaf-Chronicle'' is a newspaper in the state of Tennessee, founded, officially, in 1808. First appearing as a weekly newspaper under various names as early as 1808 and eventually as the ''Clarksville Chronicle'', the current name is the result of a subsequent merger, in 1890, with the ''Tobacco Leaf'', named for the area's predominant agricultural crop. State Route 12 (SR 12) is a highway from Davidson County, Tennessee to Montgomery County, Tennessee. Route description Davidson County SR 12 begins in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, Nashville at an intersection with U.S. Route 31 in Tennessee, US 31/U.S. Route 41 in Tennessee, US 41/U.S. Route 431 in Tennessee, US 431/U.S. Route 41A, US 41A/Tennessee State Route 6, SR 6/Tennessee State Route 11, SR 11, concurrent with US 41A as its unsigned companion route.
