Horse Cave, Kentucky
Horse Cave is a home rule-class city in Hart County, Kentucky, United States. Randall Curry currently serves as mayor of the city and is assisted by a city council that is composed of six members. As of the 2010 census, the population of Horse Cave was 2,311. History The town was settled by Major Albert Anderson in the 1840s. Interstate 65 (I-65) is a major north–south Interstate Highway in the central United States. As with most primary Interstates ending in 5, it is a major crosscountry, north–south route, connecting between the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico. Kentucky Route 218
Kentucky Route 218 (KY 218) is a 31.113-mile-long (50.072 km) west-east state highway that traverses three counties in south-central Kentucky. It is locally known as LeGrande Highway from Horse Cave to near Shady Grove. Route description Hart County Kentucky Route 218 begins at the unincorporated Hart County community of Northtown west of Interstate 65 (I-65). It is the beginning of state maintenance as the main road west of Northtown is actually a locally-maintained road (Flint Ridge Road) that leads to the Mammoth Cave National Park, and would provide a direct link to the park's visitor center. The official Kentucky road maps do not show this section of KY 218 because of its western terminus is intersecting another back road and not a major road or highway. Northtown is an unincorporated community in Hart County, Kentucky, United States. The elevation of Northtown is 837 feet. It appears on the Mammoth Cave U.S. Geological Survey Map and is in the Central Time Zone. Geography Northtown is located in the southwestern portion of Hart County at the junction of Kentucky Route 218 (KY 218) Flint Ridge Road, and Davis Williams Road, which marks KY 218's western terminus. The Louisville and Nashville Railroad , commonly called the L&N, was a Class I railroad that operated freight and passenger services in the southeast United States. Chartered by the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 1850, the road grew into one of the great success stories of American business. Operating under one name continuously for 132 years, it survived civil war and economic depression and several waves of social and technological change. Under Milton H.
