Labadieville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Assumption Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,854 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pierre Part Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Labadieville, originally called "Brûlée Labadie", takes its name from a French pioneer and resident, Jean Louis L'Abadie. In 1721, there were some fifty warriors of the Chitimacha tribe. During the two decades after 1750, the area around Labadieville was taken up by French and Spanish, joined by Acadians, Isleños and a sprinkling of Germans from the Cote des Allemands or German Coast to the east on the Mississippi River. In 1843, a mission was established. St. Philomena Catholic Church dates from 1848 as an organized parish, and the first mass was said in the home of Widow Zacharie Boudreaux. History Legend says an early traveler, unable to buy a single loaf of bread there, facetiously called the place "short of bread town", which translates to Paincourtville. The first permanent settlements in this region were made by the French and Spanish (including Isleños), ''circa'' the mid-18th century along Bayou Lafourche, between the present towns of Donaldsonville and Napoleonville. Belle Alliance is an unincorporated community in Assumption Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is part of the Pierre Part Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Belle Alliance is named after the Belle Alliance Plantation located on the east bank of Bayou Lafourche in Assumption Parish, about five miles (8 km) out of Donaldsonville. During the 1770s, this plot was granted to Don Juan Vives, a physician and military officer of the Spanish government. The actual Belle Alliance Plantation was built by a successful sugar planter Charles Anton Kock, also owner of St. Emma Plantation around 1846. Louisiana Highway 308 (LA 308) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves Ascension, Assumption, and Lafourche Parishes. It spans , following the east bank of Bayou Lafourche from Donaldsonville to Golden Meadow. It parallels LA 1 during its entire route, as LA 1 follows the west bank of the bayou. Route description LA 308 is the eastbank counterpart to LA 1, as it follows the east side of Bayou Lafourche.
