New York State Route 27 (NY 27) is a long state highway that runs east–west from Interstate 278 (I-278) in the New York City borough of Brooklyn to Montauk Point State Park on Long Island, New York. Its two most prominent components are Sunrise Highway and Montauk Highway, the latter of which includes the Montauk Point State Parkway. NY 27 acts as the primary east–west highway on southern Long Island east of the interchange with the Heckscher State Parkway in Islip Terrace. Sagaponack, New York
Sagaponack is a village in the Town of Southampton in Suffolk County, on the East End of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population of the village was 313 at the 2010 census. Sagaponack is also the name of a popular seafood restaurant in the flatiron district in New York City. History The area was first settled around 1653. The village was incorporated on September 2, 2005, in the wake of the failed attempt by Dunehampton, New York to incorporate. Dunehampton's incorporation would have blocked Sagaponack from beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. The villages are seeking to address various beach issues including erosion arising from groynes at Georgica Pond in East Hampton village. Prior to its incorporation, Sagaponack was a census-designated place, with a population at the 2000 census of 582 for an area 70% greater than that of the current village. The population of the CDP was 1,559 at the 2010 census. Its ZIP Code is 11976. As of 2010, Water Mill was listed as the fourteenth most expensive ZIP Code in the United States by ''Forbes''. The median home price was $2,965,097. History In 1644, England gave Edward Howell of land near the new settlement of Southampton to build a mill for settlers to grind their grain into meal. Montauk Highway is an east–west road extending for across the southern shore of Long Island in Suffolk County, New York, in the United States. It extends from the Nassau County line in Amityville, where it connects to Merrick Road, to Montauk Point State Park at the very eastern end of Long Island in Montauk. Hampton Bays is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Southampton in Suffolk County, on Long Island, in New York. It is considered as part of the region of Long Island known as The Hamptons. The population was 13,603 at the 2010 census. History The hamlet was settled in 1740 as "Good Ground", which became the main hamlet of eleven in the immediate area. The area where Main Street, also known as Montauk Highway, is located today, was the approximate area of the original hamlet. There were ten other hamlets in the area. North Haven, New York
North Haven is a village in the Town of Southampton in Suffolk County, on the South Fork of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 833 at the 2010 census. History The area which North Haven now exists was first settled in 1665. The village incorporated itself in 1931. In January 2007, Robert W. Rust, a former assistant U.S. attorney decorated for helping save the life of President John F. Kennedy almost three years before he was assassinated, placed his waterfront estate in the village of North Haven onto the market for $80 million.
