New York State Route 51 (NY 51) is a north–south state highway in the central part of the U.S. state of New York. The highway runs generally in a southwest to northeast direction from NY 8 in the hamlet of Mount Upton to north of the village of Ilion, where it ends at NY 5. NY 51 intersects several primary routes including, a short overlap with NY 23 in the village of Morris, a overlap with U.S. Route 20 (US 20) in Winfield, and NY 5S in Illion. NY 51 is a two-lane highway its entire length. In the 1920s, a segment of modern NY 51 between West Burlington and West Winfield was designated as part of NY 44, a route that extended from Sidney to Utica. Mount McGregor, New York
Wilton is a town in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 17,361 at the 2020 census. The Town of Wilton is in the northeastern part of the county, northeast of Saratoga Springs, which it borders. History The region, once called "Palmertown," was first settled by Europeans around 1764. The Town of Wilton was created in 1818 from the Town of Northumberland. The Grant Cottage State Historic Site is located in Wilton, in an area known as Mount McGregor, which is the highest peak of the Palmertown Range, mostly north of Wilton. This site is the place where Ulysses S. Grant died of throat cancer in 1885 just after completing his memoirs. Rexford is a hamlet in Saratoga County, New York, United States, located on the north bank of the Mohawk River. Rexford is in the Town of Clifton Park, near the southwestern town line. Its boundaries, like those of neighboring Alplaus, are unofficial and necessarily ambiguous. To the south, it is bounded by the Mohawk River and Grooms Road and to the west, Alplaus and the Schenectady County line. Mechanicville is a city in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 5,196 at the time of the 2010 census. It is the smallest city by area in the state. The name is derived from the occupations of early residents. The city is located on the eastern border of Saratoga County and is north of Albany, the state capital. Mechanicville borders the towns of Stillwater (of which it was once a part) and Halfmoon in the county, and the town of Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County. Gansevoort is a hamlet in the town of Northumberland in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The hamlet of Gansevoort is named for Peter Gansevoort, a hero in the siege of Fort Stanwix (Fort Schuyler) which contributed to the downfall of Burgoyne's army at the Battle of Saratoga during the Revolutionary War. History Gansevoort was originally settled by the Mohawk and Iroquois Indians and many burial mounds and artifacts from this time can still be found in the area. Round Lake is a village in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The population was 1,245 at the 2020 census. The name is derived from a circular lake adjacent to the village. In 1975, the Round Lake Historic District, which encompasses the village, was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Village of Round Lake is in the Town of Malta. History The village began in 1867 as a summer camp meeting locale for groups of Methodists. At first, visitors lived in tents, while visiting ministers could rent space in the second story of the meeting's passenger station. Crescent, New York
Crescent is a Hamlet (New York), hamlet in the Town (New York), town of Halfmoon, New York, Halfmoon, New York (state), New York, United States. It lies on the north bank of the Mohawk River in Saratoga County, New York, Saratoga County. Crescent was the northern terminus of an Navigable aqueduct, aqueduct which carried the Erie Canal over the Mohawk River. The original wooden aqueduct was built in 1825. The 26-arched stone aqueduct which replaced the wooden structure, was demolished in 1918 and only fragments of the stone piers remain. In the 1840s, the cheap transportation provided by the canal spurred economic development in Crescent. New York State Route 146 (NY 146) is a state highway in the Capital District of New York in the United States. It extends for from Gallupville at NY 443 to near Mechanicville at U.S. Route 4 (US 4) and NY 32. NY 146 is a major thoroughfare in the city of Schenectady, just outside Albany. Most of the route follows an east–west alignment; however, the middle third of the route between Guilderland and Clifton Park runs in a more north–south manner in order to serve Schenectady. At one time, NY 146 had three spur routes; only one— NY 146A—still exists. NY 146 was assigned as part of the 1930 renumbering of state highways in New York.
