The United States National Historic Landmark program is operated under the auspices of the National Park Service, and recognizes structures, districts, objects, and similar resources nationwide according to a list of criteria of national dept. The state of Idaho is home to 10 of these landmarks, spanning a range of history from the Lewis and Clark expedition to the beginnings of nuclear power. Moscow High School (MHS) is a four-year public high school in Moscow, Idaho, United States. The flagship school of the Moscow School District, it serves grades 9–12 and its principal since 2013 is Erik Perryman with Brett Clevenger serving as vice principal. The school colors are red, black, and white, and the mascot is a bear. Campus Less than three blocks east of Main Street on a moderate slope, its current compact campus opened in 1939, with wings added in 1968 and 1991. The previous high school of 1912 is across Third Street to the north; it was used as the junior high until 1959 and is now the "1912 Center." Idaho State Highway 8
State Highway 8 (SH-8) is an Idaho state highway in Latah and Clearwater counties, running from the Washington state line in Moscow to Elk River. It is in length, and runs primarily east–west. Route description SH-8 begins at the Washington state line, connecting with Washington State Route 270 to Pullman. Between the cities to the north is the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport. The two state highways comprise the "Moscow-Pullman Highway" in the between the university cities. In Moscow, Highway 8 runs east along the northern boundary of the University of Idaho campus as Pullman Road (widened to five lanes in 1996–97), enters an "S" curve, and becomes Third Street. State Highway 3 (SH-3) is a state highway in northern Idaho, connecting U.S. Route 12 near Spalding, east of Lewiston, with Interstate 90 near Rose Lake, east of Coeur d'Alene. It is in length and runs east of and generally parallel to Idaho's primary highway, U.S. Route 95. Route description SH-3's southern terminus is near Arrow Gulch Creek Bridge to the east of Spalding on US 12 on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation in Nez Perce County. Troy is a city in Latah County, Idaho, United States. Located in the eastern part of the Palouse region, its population was 862 at the 2010 census. History The community was originally known as Huffs Gulch when J. Wesley Seat homesteaded in the area in 1885. In 1890, area businessman John P. Vollmer rechristened the area with his own surname when he brought the railroad through. Vollmer gained much of his of land by foreclosing on the bank loans of local farmers. This made him so unpopular that in 1897 the residents decided to rename the town.
