West Virginia Route 57
West Virginia Route 57 is an east–west state highway in northern West Virginia. The western terminus of the route is at West Virginia Route 20 a half-mile north of Romines Mills, West Virginia, Romines Mills and southeast of Clarksburg, West Virginia, Clarksburg. The eastern terminus is at U.S. Route 119 southwest of Philippi, West Virginia, Philippi. The road acts as an ideal connector road between Philippi and Clarksburg as the road has few sharp curves and, as a state route, is better maintained than other area roads. The speed limit for the road's entire duration is 55 miles per hour. Alderson Broaddus University
Alderson Broaddus University (AB) is a private Baptist university in Philippi, West Virginia. It is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA. It was formed in 1932 as Alderson–Broaddus College by the union of two Baptist institutions: Alderson Academy (founded 1901) and Broaddus Institute (founded 1871; moved to Philippi, 1909). The school adopted its current name in 2013. The university's academics are organized into five academic divisions: Education and Special Programs, Health Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. Belington, West Virginia
Belington is a town in Barbour County, West Virginia, United States, situated along the Tygart Valley River. The population was 1,804 as of the 2020 census. History Belington was founded in 1766–70. Originally it was known as the Barker Settlement, after Elias Barker, who had settled there with his brother William Barker. About 1785, it was called Yeagers, taking its name from a settler, George Yeager, and his sons. In 1855, it took its current name, Belington, from John Bealin, who had opened up a store there, and who would later move to Kansas. After the June 3, 1861 Battle of Philippi, site of the first land battle of the Civil War, the Confederate forces, having been routed by the Union Army in Philippi, retreated south. Philippi ('FILL-uh-pea') is a city in and the county seat of Barbour County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 2,928 at the 2020 census.
