Ghent is a home rule-class city along the south bank of the Ohio River in Carroll County, Kentucky, in the United States. The population was 323 at the 2010 census. Geography Ghent is located in northeastern Carroll County at (38.736116, -85.060225), along the Ohio River. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. Kentucky Route 47 is a 9.851-mile state highway in Kentucky that runs from KY 36 and KY 467 in Sanders to US 42 in Ghent KY 47 mostly stays in Carroll County but makes a short entrance into Gallatin County while passing under Interstate 71. Route description KY 47 begins at an intersection with KY 36/ KY 467 in Sanders, Carroll County, heading north as a two-lane undivided road concurrent with KY 467. The road crosses a CSX railroad line before KY 467 splits to the northeast. KY 47 continues north through areas of homes before it leaves Sanders and heads into woodland. The road curves to the northwest and heads north-northwest through a mix of farmland and woods. Interstate 71 (I-71) is a north–south Interstate Highway in the Great Lakes/Midwestern and Southeastern region of the United States. Its southern terminus is at an interchange with I-64 and I-65 (the Kennedy Interchange) in Louisville, Kentucky, and its northern terminus at an interchange with I-90 in Cleveland, Ohio. I-71 runs concurrently with I-75 from a point about south of Cincinnati, Ohio, into Downtown Cincinnati. While most odd numbered Interstates are north–south, I-71 however is designated more of a northeast–southwest highway, with some east–west sections, and is mainly a regional route, serving Kentucky and Ohio. Kentucky Route 55 (KY 55) is a state highway in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. The route originates at a junction with U.S. Route 127 in Freedom, Russell County. The route continues through Columbia in Adair County to U.S. Route 68 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, where KY 55 joins US 68 east to Lebanon in Marion County. In Lebanon, KY 55 separates from US 68 and proceeds northward through Springfield in Washington County, Bloomfield in Nelson County, and Taylorsville and Elk Creek in Spencer County. In Shelby County it passes through Finchville and Shelbyville and continues north through Eminence in Henry County. Roughly three miles south of New Castle, KY 55 intersects U.S. Route 421. Prestonville is a home rule-class city located at the confluence of the Ohio and Kentucky rivers in Carroll County, Kentucky, in the United States. It lies across the Kentucky River from Carrollton. The population was 161 at the 2010 U.S. Census. History The site of the present city was originally part of a grant of several thousand acres to Col.
