Carvers Creek State Park
Carvers Creek State Park is a North Carolina state park in Cumberland County, North Carolina in the United States. Located north of Fayetteville, it covers in the Sandhills region of the state. The park covers lands around Carvers Creek, a tributary of the Cape Fear River, and it borders Fort Bragg. The park is currently divided into two areas, ''Long Valley Farm'' and the ''Sandhills Property.'' The park is still being planned, and the state is planning to acquire more land for the park. On September 9, 2013, interim park facilities were opened to the public at the Long Valley Farm Access. The initial park facilities include a ranger contact station, a picnic area, lake fishing access, and two hiking trails. Trails The James S. Eastover is a town in Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 3,628 at the 2010 census. It was incorporated on July 25, 2007. History The Robert Williams House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Geography Eastover is located northeast of the center of Cumberland County at (35.095278, -78.786556). It is northeast of downtown Fayetteville. U.S. Route 301 passes through the center of the town as Dunn Road. Interstate 95 runs parallel to US 301 on the east side of town, with access from Exits 55, 56, and 58. I-95 leads northeast to the Rocky Mount area and southwest to Florence, South Carolina. Erwin, formerly named Duke, is a town that is located in the eastern part of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States, located approximately from Dunn and approximately from Fayetteville. The Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex is a museum about the history and cultural heritage of southern North Carolina. Opened in 1988 and located in Fayetteville, the museum is a regional branch of the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh. The complex includes the main history museum, the 1897 Poe House, and Arsenal Park. Spring Lake is a town in Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States. The 2010 census recorded the population at 11,964 people, with an estimated population in 2019 of 12,005. History The current name of the town first appeared around 1923 when Arthur Priddy opened the Spring Lake service station in relation to the lake (Spring Lake Pond) that ran beside the rail line. Previously, the area was called "Clayton Cut", due to the pathway cut that ran through the area where the railroad later resided, and also "Prince's Siding", after a man named Prince who owned a sawmill on this land. Spring Lake was officially incorporated on April 9, 1951. Grady Howard was named interim mayor on this date, and was officially elected the first mayor of Spring Lake on June 5, 1951.
