National League Riders' Championship
The National League Riders' Championship is an annual motorcycle speedway contest between the top riders (or two riders) with the highest average points total from each club competing in the third tier league in the United Kingdom. The same format of Championship applies for the tier one and tier two leagues, that of the SGB Premiership Riders' Individual Championship (tier one) and the SGB Championship Riders' Individual Championship (tier two). Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Jon Armstrong (speedway Rider)
Jon Thomas Armstrong (born 1 August 1974) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career Armstrong started racing in the British leagues during the 1992 British League season, when riding a couple of times in the reserve berth for the Belle Vue Aces. After a break from speedway in 1994 and 1995 he returned in 1996 riding for Buxton Hitmen and recording an 8.77 average. The following season he won the Conference League Riders' Championship, held on 7 September at Long Eaton Stadium. He rode for various clubs over the following years and won the Knockout Cup in 2002 with Buxton and secured the treble of league, cup and fours in 2004 with Mildenhall Fen Tigers. He joined Weymouth Wildcats in 2008 and suffered a major injury, breaking his tibia and patella tendon. Rye House Rockets
The Rye House Rockets were a speedway team based at Rye House Stadium, Hoddesdon, England. They competed in various British speedway leagues from 1954 to 2018. History Rye House began life in 1934 hosting open meetings. Whilst at Hackney in 1937, Dicky Case took over the sixty acre estate of Rye House and set up a training school at Rye House Stadium, operating under the name of the Hackney Motor Club. Newport Wasps
Newport Wasps were a British motorcycle speedway team based in Newport, South Wales from 1964 to 2012. They were the 1999 Conference League champions. The Wasp logo incorporates the traditional black and amber colours of the City of Newport. History 1964–1977 Newport Wasps first competed in the 1964 Provincial Speedway League (division 2), they finished a creditable fourth and also won the division 2 version of the Knockout Cup, when winning the Provincial League Knockout Cup during their debut season. The following season they joined the inaugural British League season (the top division) and would remain in the top division until 1977. The team weas based at the now-defunct Somerton Park stadium, which was also the home of football and greyhound racing. Scott Andrew Pegler (born 3 August 1973) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career Pegler started racing in the British leagues during the 1989 National League season, when riding for the Exeter Falcons. He struggled to establish himself in the team over the following seasons and it was not until the 1994 season that he was a regular in the Exeter team. He rode in the top tier of British speedway during the 1995 Premier League speedway season, again for Exeter. Linlithgow Lightning were a British speedway team based in Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland. They raced at Heathersfield Stadium.
