National Lacrosse League Expansion Draft
The National Lacrosse League expansion draft is a meeting where the general managers of expansion National Lacrosse League teams begin to fill their teams with unprotected players from the rosters of existing NLL teams. Such a draft occurs whenever an expansion NLL franchise is awarded. The most recent expansion draft was in 2022 for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The NLL currently has fifteen teams: ten in the United States and five in Canada. The NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the National Hockey League, NHL and National Basketball Association, NBA. Unlike other box lacrosse leagues which play in the summer, the NLL plays its games in the winter and spring, from December to June. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the National Lacrosse League Cup. The NLL has averaged between 8,900 and 10,700 spectators per game each year since 2004. Mitch Belisle
Mitchell Dye Belisle (born November 9, 1985) is an American former professional lacrosse player for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse and former player for the Georgia Swarm in the National Lacrosse League. Belisle represented the United States in the 2014 FIL World Championship and the 2011 FIL World Indoor Championship. Collegiate career Belisle is a graduate of Cornell University and a member of the Cornell Athletics Hall of Fame. As a senior he was awarded the Schmeisser Award as the nation's top defender. He also received First-team All-American team honors, and was named to his second All-Ivy League team while leading the Big Red to the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship Final Four. Curtis Palidwor (born January 16, 1973 in New Westminster, British Columbia) is a former goaltender for the Calgary Roughnecks in the National Lacrosse League. In 2004 he was named MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the NLL's Champions Cup game, backstopping the Roughnecks to a 14–11 victory over the Buffalo Bandits. Palidwor was awarded "Player of the Month" honors in March of the 2008 NLL season. Darryl Gibson (born July 28, 1976 in Toronto, Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadians, Canadian indoor lacrosse, lacrosse coach and former professional player. He played for the Albany Attack, Toronto Rock, San Jose Stealth, Arizona Sting, Minnesota Swarm, Chicago Shamrox and Buffalo Bandits the National Lacrosse League. Brandon Miller (lacrosse)
Brandon Miller (born May 4, 1979, in Orangeville, Ontario) is a former goaltender who most recently played for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League, and the Six Nations Chiefs and, formerly, the Brampton Excelsiors in the Ontario Lacrosse Association's Major Series. He has won four Mann Cups, two with each of the Chiefs and Excelsiors. Brian Langtry
Brian Langtry (born May 16, 1976) is a former lacrosse player for the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League and the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse. Langtry was born in Massapequa, NY, and played NCAA lacrosse for Hofstra University. NLL Langtry began his NLL career with the New York Saints in 2000, but only played three games. He didn't play again until 2003 with the Mammoth, and was named the NLL Rookie of the Year. He won the Champion's Cup with the Mammoth in 2006. In 2003, Langtry scored the game-winning goal in the Mammoth's first-ever game, a 13-12 double-overtime victory over the Toronto Rock. Pat Campbell (lacrosse)
Pat Campbell (born April 28, 1977 in Niagara Falls, Ontario) is a former professional indoor lacrosse goaltender who played for the Toronto Rock, Columbus Landsharks, Rochester Knighthawks, Calgary Roughnecks, and Edmonton Rush in the National Lacrosse League. In his NLL career, he won the Champion's Cup three times with the Rock (1999, 2000, 2011) and once with the Roughnecks (2009). Patrick Merrill
Patrick Merrill (born February 22, 1979) is a former Canadian professional lacrosse player for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League and of the Toronto Nationals in Major League Lacrosse. He is currently the Head Coach and General Manager of the San Diego Seals. Professional career Merrill was a first-round draft choice of the Toronto Rock in 2002, and after four seasons with the Rock, was chosen first overall by the Boston Blazers in the 2008 expansion draft. However, following the cancellation and subsequent reinstatement of the 2008 season, the Blazers, along with the Arizona Sting, announced that they would not participate in the 2008 season. Kurtis Wagar (born November 5, 1985) is a retired professional lacrosse goaltender, who spent 9 years in the National Lacrosse League. He began his amateur career with the St. Catharines Athletics of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League, played collegiality for the Brock Badgers, and was drafted in the third round of the 2006 NLL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Rush. Wagar spent two seasons with the Rush before he was traded along with Brenden Thenhaus to the Boston Blazers in exchange for Cam Bergman. The Blazers subsequently dealt him to the New York Titans for Anthony Kelly. He spent 2009 with the Titans, and moved with them to Orlando in 2010. Brenden Thenhaus (born August 5, 1986) is a Canadian lacrosse player for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League. Professional career Thenhaus began his National Lacrosse League career with the Buffalo Bandits in the 2007 NLL season. He was acquired by the Wings as a free agent prior to the 2008 NLL season. Thenhaus scored his first career goal while with the Bandits against the Wings. On February 28, 2008, Thenhaus was traded to the Edmonton Rush in exchange for a second round pick in the 2008 National Lacrosse League entry draft.
