National Indigenous Music Awards 2021
The National Indigenous Music Awards 2021 were the forthcoming 18th annual National Indigenous Music Awards. They were scheduled to occur on 8 August 2021 at the Darwin Amphitheatre however on 28 July 2021, were postponed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. On 11 October 2021, it was announced the NIMAs have partnered with triple j and its First Nations show, ''Blak Out'' to create a two-hour special on 14 November 2021. Creative Director Ben Graetz said "2021 will bring the event to Australia across many platforms, led by our long-time partners NITV, while creating a special night of connection under the stars here on Larrakia Country." Kev Carmody
Kevin Daniel Carmody (born 1946), better known by his stage name Kev Carmody, is an Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter and musician, a Murri man from northern Queensland. He is best known for the song "From Little Things Big Things Grow", which was recorded with co-writer Paul Kelly for their 1993 single. It was covered by the Get Up Mob (including guest vocals by both Carmody and Kelly) in 2008 and peaked at number four on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) singles charts. Carmody has won many awards, and in 2009 was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame as well as being a recipient of the Queensland Greats Awards. Better Days (Baker Boy, Dallas Woods And Sampa The Great Song)
"Better Days" is a song by Indigenous Australian musicians Baker Boy, Dallas Woods, and Zambian-born Australian rapper Sampa the Great. It was released on 23 September 2020. Background "Better Days" follows his March single "Move", and is Baker's second single release for 2020. The song is the second collaboration Baker and Woods have released (after Woods featured on 2018's "Black Magic"), but is the first time either Baker or Woods have collaborated with Sampa the Great. The track was premiered on Triple J's ''Drive'' with Hobba and Hing on 22 September 2020. Composition and lyrics Musically, "Better Days" is a hip hop, and neo soul song. Sampa Tembo (born 9 August 1993), known professionally as Sampa the Great, is a Zambian singer, rapper and songwriter. Between 2014 and 2020, she was based in Australia. Budjerah Slabb, known mononymously as Budjerah, is an Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter from Fingal Head, New South Wales. He is a Coodjinburra man from the Bundjalung nation. His debut single "Missing You" was released in October 2020. Budjerah performed the track live for Australian live music program '' The Sound'' on 6 December 2020.
