The National Historical Museum (''Национален исторически музей'', Natsionalen istoricheski muzey) in Sofia is Bulgaria's largest museum. It was founded on 5 May 1973. A new representative exhibition was opened in the building of the Court of Justice on 2 March 1984, to commemorate the 13th centenary of the Bulgarian state. Sofia Court House
The Sofia Court House ( bg, Съдебна палата, ''Sadebna palata,'' literally Palace of Justice) is a building in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, accommodating several courts in the city. Stylistically a simplistic yet monumental structure, it is located on 2 Vitosha Boulevard, surrounded by Alabin Street, Laveleye Street and Positano Street. The need for a common building to house all the courts in Sofia was raised in 1926 with the foundation of the Judicial Buildings fund. Construction began in 1929 and finished in 1940. While it was the first structure in this strict monumental style in the city, it was followed by the Bulgarian National Bank in the 1930s and the Largo in the 1950s. The initial architectural plan was the work of Nikola Lazarov, later redesigned by Pencho Koychev. Valchitran Treasure
The Valchitran Treasure ( bg, Вълчитрънско златно съкровище) is an early Thracian treasure. Discovery It was discovered on 28 December 1924 by two brothers who were working in their vineyard near the village of Valchitran, 22 km southeast of Pleven, Bulgaria. Description The hoard consists of 13 receptacles, different in form and size, and weighs in total 12.5 kg: * two round platters * five round domed pieces, two with central handles * three cups with handles * a jug with handle * three leaf shaped vessels with handles * a bowl with two handles (4.5 kg of gold) The gold metal has a natural mixture of 9.7% silver. The scientists dated the treasure back to 1300 BC, at the time of the Thracians. It is now one of the most valuable possessions of the National Archaeological Museum in Sofia. Dabene Treasure
The Dabene Treasure ( bg, Дъбенското съкровище) was unearthed in 2004 near the village of Dabene in the municipality of Karlovo, Plovdiv Province, central Bulgaria. The excavations were led by the archaeologist Martin Hristov. Other elements of the treasure were discovered in 2006. The excavations in the area began after two archaeologists from the National Historical Museum met a local woman with an exquisite golden necklace found by her husband while ploughing with his tractor. The couple was unaware of the origins of the jewel and cooperated with the archaeologists. The whole treasure consists of 20,000 gold jewelerry items from 18 to 23 carats. The most important of them was a dagger made of gold and platinum with an unusual edge. The Panagyurishte Treasure ( bg, Панагюрско златно съкровище) is a Thracian treasure. Discovery It was accidentally discovered on 8 December 1949 by three brothers, Pavel, Petko, and Michail Deikov, who worked together at the region of “Merul” tile factory near the railway station of the town of Panagyurishte, Bulgaria. At the time of its discovery it was considered "the richest treasure to have been unearthed in Europe since World War II.". Decree Of Dionysopolis
The Decree of Dionysopolis was written around 48 BC by the citizens of Dionysopolis (today's Balchik, on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria) to Akornion, who traveled far away in a diplomatic mission to meet somebody's farther in ''Argedauon''. The decree, a fragmentary marble inscription, is located in the National Historical Museum in Sofia. Inscription The decree mentions a Dacian town named Argedauon ( grc, Αργεδαυον), potentially Argidava or Argedava.
