The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) is a fully owned company of the Government of India, set up in 2014 and is responsible for management of a network of over 5,500 km of National Highways out of 1,15,000 km in India. It is a nodal agency of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Chanchal Kumar (IAS) is the present Managing Director of NHIDCL since 31 January 2022. History Highways Connectivity Company Ltd. was set up under Companies Act, 2013. Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge
The Dhubri - Phulbari Bridge is an under construction bridge over the Brahmaputra River between Assam and Meghalaya in North-East India. The Dhubri - Phulbari bridge, to be completed by 2026–27, would be India’s second longest bridge over water after Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and would span more than 19 km. This proposed bridge, close to the Bangladesh border, will connect Assam's Dhubri with Meghalaya's Phulbari which is also a missing link of National Highway 127B. Civil works has started on 2019–2020. This is being funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency and it would be executed by NHIDCL. The National highways in India are a network of trunk roads owned by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. National highways have flyover access or some controlled-access, where entrance and exit is through the side of the flyover, at each intersection of highways flyovers are provided to bypass the city/town/village traffic and these highways are designed for speed of 100 km/hr. Some national highways have interchanges in between but they don't have total controlled-access throughout the highways. On 28 April 2010, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways officially published a new numbering system for the National Highway network in the Gazette of the Government of India. It is a systematic numbering scheme based on the orientation and the geographic location of the highway.
