National Hajj Council (Ghana)
National Hajj Council (also ''National Hajj Committee'' or ''Ghana Hajj Secretariat'' or ''Ghana Hajj Board'') is a division under the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was set up to oversee the annual airlifting of Ghanaian Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. Cost of Hajj Cost of Hajj per head experience frequent fluctuations, falling in some years and rising in others mainly due to instability of the Ghanaian cedi. When pegged against the US dollar however the unit cost has remained fairly steady in the last 5 years. Kotoka International Airport
Kotoka International Airport is an international airport in Accra, the capital of Ghana. The airport is operated by Ghana Airports Company Limited, Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), which has its offices on the airport property. It is the sole international airport in Ghana. In 2019, the airport served a record 3 million passengers, although this reduced to 2.1 million in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It presently serves as a hub for domestic and regional operator Africa World Airlines, and a base for domestic operator Passion Air. The airport consists of two passenger terminals, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Terminal 2 serves only domestic flights, while Terminal 3 serves regional, international and long-haul operators. The Hajj (; ar, حَجّ '; sometimes also spelled Hadj, Hadji or Haj in English) is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. The cedi ( ) (currency sign: GH₵; currency code: GHS) is the unit of currency of Ghana. It is the fourth historical and only current legal tender in the Republic of Ghana. One cedi is divided into one hundred pesewas (Gp). After independence Ghana separated itself from the British West African pound, which was the currency of the British colonies in the region. The new republic's first independent currency was the Ghanaian pound (1958–1965). In 1965, Ghana decided to leave the British colonial monetary system and adopt the widely accepted decimal system.
