National Football League Team Captains
In the National Football League, the team captain designation is a team-appointed position that designates certain players as leaders on and off the field. The captains program was implemented by the NFL Player Advisory Council established by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in conjunction with the NFL Players Association. Starting in , the league began permitting teams to name up to six players as captains. Rules NFL rule 18 details the guidelines for team captains. The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Panthers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) South division. Colin Jones (born October 27, 1987) is a former American football safety. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football at TCU. He went to high school in Bridgeport, Texas and graduated in 2006. He also played for the Carolina Panthers. Luke August Kuechly (; born April 20, 1991) is an American former professional football middle linebacker who played all eight seasons of his career with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He is generally recognized as the best middle linebacker of the 2010s and as one of the best of all time. He was drafted by the Panthers ninth overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. Trai Denzell Turner (born June 14, 1993) is an American football guard for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at LSU and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft, where he made the Pro Bowl every year from 2015 to 2019. Gregory Walter Olsen (born March 11, 1985) is an American football sportscaster and former tight end who played for 14 seasons in the National Football League (NFL).
