The National Democratic Rally (french: Rassemblement national démocratique) is a political party in Senegal. History The party was legalised on 18 June 1981, and contested the 1983 general elections, when it won a single seat in the National Assembly. Although it did not run in the 1988 general elections, it put forward Madior Diouf as its candidate in the 1993 presidential elections. Diouf finished sixth out of eight candidates with 1% of the vote. Prior to the 1993 parliamentary elections the party joined the Let Us Unite Senegal alliance, which won three seats. The National Democratic Rally or National Democratic Gathering ( ar, التجمع الوطني الديمقراطي, ''at-tajammuʻ al-waţanī ad-dīmūqrāţī'') is a banned opposition alliance in Syria, comprising five political parties of a secularist, pan-Arabist, Arab nationalist and socialist bent. The Democratic National Rally ( ar, التجمع الوطني الديمقراطي, french: Rassemblement National Démocratique, RND) is a political party in Algeria. The party held its Second Congress on 15–17 May 2003. History The RND was founded on 21 February 1997 in the midst of the Algerian Civil War for supporters of Liamine Zéroual, former head of ground forces of the Algerian military who had been elected president less than two years earlier (16 November 1995). Zéroual had run as an independent and won 60% of votes cast. In the Algerian Parliamentary elections held on 5 June 1997 the RND received more votes than any other party 156 out of 380 seats. In the next parliamentary elections five years later it came in third polling only 9.5% of the vote, winning 47 of 380 seats in the Algerian Parliament.
