National Democratic Party (North Macedonia)
The National Democratic Party (; Nacionalna Demokratska Partija) is a political party of ethnic Albanians in North Macedonia. In the parliamentary elections on 15 September 2002, the party won 1 out of 120 seats. The party's only MP was the party's vice president Xhezair Shaqiri, AKA "Commander Hoxha" of the former " National Liberation Army" (NLA). The Albanians in North Macedonia ( sq, Shqiptarët në Maqedoninë e Veriut, mk, Албанци во Северна Македонија) are the second largest ethnic group in North Macedonia, forming 446,245 individuals or 24.3% of the resident population. Of the 2,097,319 total population in the 2021 census (including self-enumerated diaspora), 619,187 or 29.52% are Albanians. Geography The Albanian minority is concentrated mostly in the western, north-western and partially middle area of the country with small communities located in the south-west. The National Liberation Army ( sq, Ushtria Çlirimtare Kombëtare, UÇK; mk, Ослободителна народна армија – ОНА, ''Osloboditelna narodna armija'', ONA), also known as the Macedonian UÇK was a militant, separatist militia that operated in the Republic of Macedonia in 2001 and was closely associated with the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Democratic Union For Integration
The Democratic Union for Integration ( mk, Демократска унија за интеграција, ДУИ, Demokratska unija za integracija, DUI, al, Bashkimi Demokratik për Integrim, BDI) is the largest ethnic Albanian political party in North Macedonia and the third largest political party in the country. It was formed immediately after the country's 2001 armed conflict between the National Liberation Army (NLA) and Macedonian security forces.
