The 1978 National Camogie League is a competition in the women's team field sport of camogie was won by Kilkenny, who defeated Limerick in the final, played at Adare. Arrangements Kilkenny, the 1977 senior champions, defeated Antrim, Down, Dublin and Wexford en route to the final while Limerick the 1977 All-Ireland junior champions, defeated Clare, Cork, Galway and Tipperary. Kilkenny GAA
The Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Kilkenny GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Cill Chainnigh) is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kilkenny. St Paul's is a former camogie club based in Kilkenny city, Ireland, one of the most successful in the history of the game. Bridie Martin-McGarry from Kilkenny is a former camogie player selected on the camogie team of the century in 2004, and winner of nine All Ireland medals. Background and early career She first played Camogie when she went to Presentation Secondary School, Kilkenny where she won an All Ireland Senior Colleges title in 1969. She played with Thornbrack and Lisdowney before winning several county championships and three club All Ireland medals with St Paul’s. Inter-county She first played with Kilkenny senior team in 1972 and went on to win nine All Ireland medals in what was the county’s most successful period in the game to date. She was captain in 1985 and again in 1987. She won seven National League medals with Kilkenny and eight Gael Linn Cup inter-provincial medals with Leinster. Ballyhale Shamrocks is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Ballyhale in County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1972 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. Ballyhale Shamrocks are the most successful club in the history of the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship with eight titles. Hurling History Beginnings Gaelic Games had been played in the parish of Ballyhale long before the Shamrocks club was established. By the early 1970s there were two competing clubs in existence in the parish, Ballyhale and Knocktopher, however, they were both facing extinction. A third club, Knockmoylan, had ceased to exist at some time in 1959. Because of the situation facing both clubs they decided to amalgamate in 1972 under the new name of Ballyhale Shamrocks.
