National Bank Of Denmark
Danmarks Nationalbank (in Danish often simply ''Nationalbanken'') is the central bank of the Kingdom of Denmark. It is a non-eurozone member of the European System of Central Banks ( ESCB). Since its establishment in 1818, the objective of the Nationalbank as an independent and credible institution is to issue the Danish currency, the krone, and ensure its stability. The Board of Governors holds full responsibility for the monetary policy. The building which houses the bank's headquarters was designed by the renowned architect Arne Jacobsen, in collaboration with Hans Dissing and Otto Weitling. After Jacobsen's death, his office, renamed Dissing+Weitling, has brought the construction to completion. ''Børsen'' (full name: ''Dagbladet Børsen'') is a Danish newspaper specialising in business news published in Denmark. History and profile ''Børsen'' was founded in 1896 by merchant and editor Theodor Hans Carsten Green. In 1899, it was changed into a newspaper with a particular focus on business and stock exchange content. Wilhelm Carl Eppingen Sponneck (16 February 1815 – 29 February 1888) was a Danish nobleman (''rigsgreve'') and Minister of Finance. He was influential in Danish customs affairs for several years. Biography Wilhelm Carl Eppingen Sponneck was born in Ringkøbing in 1815. He graduated from Sorø Academy in 1832, and entered into a study of the law. He received a law degree in 1836. He was employed in the Danish customs service and rose to a leading position in the 1840s after publishing a 600-page work about customs services. King Frederick VII of Denmark appointed him to the Constitutional Assembly in 1848. Also in 1848 he was appointed Finance Minister, an office which he occupied in a total of five cabinets. Hans Peter Hansen (banker)
Hans Peter Hansen (20 December 1829 – 18 November 1899) was a Danish xylographer who specialized in portraits. Hansen was born in Copenhagen. He first learned the profession of watchmaking before studying woodcutting under Hans Christian Henneberg, Johann Adolf Kittendorff, and Johan Peter Aagaard. At the same time, he also followed courses at the Academy of Arts of Copenhagen (1843/44). In 1854, he travelled to Germany, first to Dresden and then to Leipzig, where he settled. In 1859, he married Clara Aurelia Sophie Langer (5 August 1830 – 1 July 1913), the daughter of the engraver Georg Gottfried Langer and sister of engraver Karl Hermann Theodor Langer (17 December 1819 – 1895). Peter Georg Bang (7 October 1797 – 2 April 1861) was a Danish politician and jurist. He served as the Prime Minister of Denmark 1854–1856. Biography Bang was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. His parents were Jacob Hansen Bang (1770-1841) and Anna Cathrine Sophie Østrup (1779-1820). Lauritz Nicolai Hvidt
Lauritz Nicolai Hvidt (27 October 1777 – 16 March 1856) was a Danish merchant and politician. His trading house mainly traded on the Danish West Indies. He was also part of the management of the marine insurance company De private Assurandeurer and director of the Bank of Denmark. As a liberal politician, he was involved in the work for a free constitution and a co-founder of the Free Press Society (). He was a member of the Copenhagen City Council from 1840 and its chairman from 1841. He lived in the now listed building at Kronprinsessegade 28 from 1812. Christian Klingberg
Christian Klingberg (16 December 1765 – 9 February 1821) was a Danish Supreme Court attorney and chief legal officer of the Danish Asiatic Company. Early life and education Klingberg was born on 16 December 1765 in Copenhagen, the son of lottery inspector-general Jacob Klingberg (1719–82) and Karen Lund (1733–1806). He graduated from Frederiksborg Latin School in 1783 and passed his legal exams (cand.jur.) at the University of Copenhagen in 1787. Career He was a lawyer at the Hof- og Stadsret from 1791 and became a Supreme Court Attorney in 1792. He was in addition chief legal officer of the Danish Asia Company 1812–19 and briefly served as director of the Bank of Denmark in 1818.
