This article contains detailed results of the parliamentary election that was held as part of the Kenyan general election in December 2007. Those elected sat in the 10th Parliament of Kenya. Results Summary 207 members of parliament were elected. Elections have to be repeated in 3 constituencies. 12 additional mps will be nominated by the president which is expected to be done according to the strength of parties in the house. *PNU and affiliated parties held 78 seats (PNU 43, KANU 16, other affiliated parties 21). *ODM and its affiliated party NARC held 102 seats (ODM itself 99). *ODM-K held 16 seats. *11 candidates reached parliament who were elected under small parties which had so far not yet declared an affiliation to any of the blocks. 2007 Kenyan Parliamentary Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 27 December 2007. Voters elected the President, and members of the National Assembly. They coincided with the 2007 Kenyan local elections. Incumbent Mwai Kibaki, running on a Party of National Unity (PNU) ticket, defeated Raila Odinga, leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Kalonzo Musyoka of Orange Democratic Movement–Kenya. The elections were strongly marked by ethnic hostility, with Kibaki a member of the traditionally dominant Kikuyu ethnic group, gaining much support amongst the Kikuyu and neighbouring groups in central Kenya, including the Embu and Meru. Odinga, as a member of the Luo ethnic group, succeeded in creating a wider base by building a coalition with regional leaders from the Luhya in Western Kenya, Kalenjin from the Rift Valley and Muslim leaders from the Coast Province. Dagoretti South Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of seventeen constituencies of Nairobi County. It is located to the west of Nairobi. The entire constituency is located within Nairobi County. The constituency was known as Nairobi West Constituency from 1963 to 1969, and Dagoretti Constituency from 1969 to 2013. Fred Gumo
Early life Fredrick Fidelis Omulo Gumo (born 1945) is the first-born son to the famous businessman Pius Gumo and Martina Gumo. He belongs to the Abanyala people, a sub-tribe of the Abaluhya tribe of the western Kenya. Gumo has largely kept a low profile since retiring from active politics in 2013 after 38 years. He is remembered for his ‘Kaa Ngumu’ rallying call. The constituency is situated within Westlands Sub-county, formerly Westlands District. The entire constituency is located within Nairobi City County. The constituency has an area of . Raila Amolo Odinga (born 7 January 1945) is a Kenyan politician, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Langata and businessman who served as the Prime Minister of Kenya from 2008 to 2013.
