National Assembly (Serbia)
The National Assembly ( sr-cyr, Народна скупштина, Narodna skupština, ) is the unicameral legislature of Serbia. The assembly is composed of 250 deputies who are proportionally elected to four-year terms by secret ballot. The assembly elects a president (speaker) who presides over the sessions. Unicameralism (from ''uni''- "one" + Latin ''camera'' "chamber") is a type of legislature, which consists of one house or assembly, that legislates and votes as one. Unicameral legislatures exist when there is no widely perceived need for multicameralism (two or more chambers). Many multicameral legislatures were created to give separate voices to different sectors of society. Multiple houses allowed, for example, for a guaranteed representation of different social classes (as in the Parliament of the United Kingdom or the French States-General). The Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia ( sr, link=, Покрет обнове Краљевине Србије, Pokret obnove Kraljevine Srbije; abbr. ПОКС or POKS) is a monarchist and national-conservative political party in Serbia. It was founded in 2017 after a split within the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO). Ivan Karić ( sr-cyr, Иван Карић; born 19 September 1975) is a politician in Serbia. He is the leader of the Greens of Serbia and served in the National Assembly of Serbia from 2012 to 2017, when he was appointed as a state secretary in the country's ministry of environmental protection. Early life and career Karić was born in the Belgrade municipality of Obrenovac, in what was then the Socialist Republic of Serbia in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Dragan Jovanović ( sr-cyr, Драган Јовановић; born 5 March 1972) is a Serbian politician who served as the mayor of Topola from 2004 to 2014 and as a member of the National Assembly of Serbia from 2014 to 2020. He is now a member of the Topola municipal council. Formerly with New Serbia, he has been the leader of Better Serbia since its founding in 2017. Marijan Rističević ( sr-cyr, Маријан Ристичевић, born 1 March 1958) is a Serbian politician and leader of the People's Peasant Party. He has been a member of the National Assembly of Serbia since 2014. Political career He was a presidential candidate in the 2004 Serbian presidential election, when he won 0.33% of votes.
