National Advance
National Advance ( es, Avanzada Nacional, AN) was a Chilean far-right political party of nationalist ideology who supported the military regime led by Augusto Pinochet. They had party legal existence between January 1988 and July 1991. It was founded on 11 September 1983 by former members of Fatherland and Liberty and civilian supporters of the dictatorship. The party constitution was signed on April 15, 1987, the Electoral Service ordered his publication in the official Journal on 29 May 1987. Finally, by resolution O-56 of 29 January 1988, the Electoral Service officially signed up the party. This party held various positions during the military regime, including more than 70 municipalities. Independent Democratic Union
The Independent Democratic Union (''Unión Demócrata Independiente'', UDI) is a conservative and right-wing political party in Chile, founded in 1983. Its founder was the lawyer, politician and law professor Jaime Guzmán, a civilian allied with Augusto Pinochet. Guzmán was a senator from 1990 until his murder by communist guerrillas on April 1, 1991. Its ideological origins date back to Guzmán's Guildist Movement, born out of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in 1966, espousing the independence and depoliticization of intermediate bodies of civil society. The UDI is today a conservative political party with strong links to the Opus Dei, that opposes abortion in nearly all or all cases. The Radical Democracy ( es, Democracia Radical, DR), was a Chilean centre-right political party. The party, created in 1969, was dissolved in 1973, and reappeared in 1983 before disbanding permanently in 1990. History The party was composed of Radicals who opposed the presidential candidacy of the Marxist Salvador Allende. It represented the anti-communist sector of the Radicals that separated themselves permanently from the Radical Party. The group was initially known as the Movement for Democratic Unity. It supported the presidential candidacy of independent right-winger Jorge Alessandri in 1970. General elections were held in Chile on 14 December 1989,Dieter Nohlen (2005) ''Elections in the Americas: A data handbook, Volume II'', p262 bringing an end to the military regime that had been in place since 1973. Patricio Aylwin of Concertación alliance was elected President, whilst the alliance also won a majority of seats in the Chamber of Deputies and in the elected Senate seats. The Democratic Party of Chile ( es, Partido Democrático de Chile, PADECH) was a Chilean political party that had legal existence from 1988 to 1989 under the state of "party in formation". It was originally created by Apolonides Parra to rally the militants of the National Democratic Party (PADENA) who rejected the decision of the collectivity to support the "No" option in the plebiscite of 1988. PADECH started preparations for its establishment on 16 June 1988 and was declared as a "party in formation" July 27 of that year. It openly supported the option "Yes" in the referendum which sought the continuation of the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet on October 5 of that year. Radical democracy is a type of democracy that advocates the radical extension of equality and liberty. Radical democracy is concerned with a radical extension of equality and freedom, following the idea that democracy is an unfinished, inclusive, continuous and reflexive process. Theories Within radical democracy there are three distinct strands, as articulated by Lincoln Dahlberg. These strands can be labeled as agonistic, deliberative and autonomist.
