Nathan Stephens
Nathan Stephens (born 11 April 1988) is a former Paralympian athlete from Wales competing mainly in category F57-58 throwing events. He was until September 2012 the world record holder in the F57 javelin throw. Life and sports Stephens was born in Kenfig Hill in Bridgend, South Wales. At the age of nine an accident on a railway line resulted in the loss of both of his legs. He started swimming for the Dragons Disabled Swimming Club before moving on to other sports. As a youth he joined the Cardiff Huskies ice sledge hockey team, which led to an interest in sport. He began competing in athletic competitions in 2003 at the age of 15, winning the gold in discus, javelin and shot put at the Junior British Championship. He continued his success into the senior field and at the age of 16 he broke the British senior record in all three throwing events. Kenfig Hill
Kenfig Hill ( cy, Mynydd Cynffig) is a village in Bridgend County Borough, South Wales. It is bordered by Pyle to the south-west, Cefn Cribwr to the north-east, North Cornelly to the south and Moel Ton-Mawr mountain to the north. The nearest train station is Pyle on the South Wales Main Line. The largest nearby outside connection is the M4 just south of the village that leads from Carmarthenshire to London. Sport and leisure Bedford Park is a popular park for leisure activities. Kenfig Hill RFC are a rugby union team founded in 1897, and play their home games at Croft Goch Playing Fields. The village is also home to Kenfig Hill AFC, an association football team that competes in the Port Talbot Football League. Claudiney Batista Dos Santos
Claudiney Batista dos Santos (born 13 November 1978) is a Brazilian Paralympian athlete competing in category F57/T57 throwing events. He won a silver medal in the javelin throw at the 2012 Paralympics and a gold medal in the discus throw at the 2016 Rio Games. Career history Batista was born able bodied, but after a road accident in May 2005 part of his left leg needed to be amputated. While in hospital he was visited by para-athletic organisations offering sport as a way to help in his recovery. He refused to accept their invitation for over two years, before changing his mind. In 2011 he was part of the Brazilian team which entered into the 2011 Parapan American Games. He entered the javelin and discus, both in the joint F57/58 class, winning the javelin and coming third in the discus.
