Nate Smith (catcher)
Nathaniel Beverly Smith (April 26, 1935 – August 18, 2019) was an American professional baseball player, a catcher whose career was confined to minor league baseball except for a five-game Major League Baseball, Major League stint with the Baltimore Orioles at the end of the season. He threw and batted right-handed, stood tall and weighed . Born in Chicago, Smith attended Tennessee State University. His professional career (1956–59; 1961–64) was spent in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers' organization until the Orioles purchased his contract from the Triple-A Omaha Dodgers in September 1962. In his first MLB at bat, Smith pinch hit for Oriole pitcher Wes Stock and single (baseball), singled off left-hander Ted Bowsfield of the Los Angeles Angels. Catcher is a Baseball positions, position in baseball and softball. Wes Stock
Wesley Gay Stock (born April 10, 1934) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher, pitching coach and television commentator. He appeared in 321 games pitched (all but three in relief) between 1959 and 1967 with the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Athletics. Stock threw and batted right-handed; he was listed as tall and . Stock attended Shelton High School then Washington State University (then College) where he was initiated into Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He played college baseball for the Cougars from 1954 to 1955. He signed with the Orioles in 1956, and spent 1957–1958 performing military service. His initial trial with Baltimore, in April 1959, came after only one season of minor league baseball, in the Class C Northern League. Jack Kralick
John Francis Kralick ( ) (June 1, 1935 – September 18, 2012) was a professional baseball player who pitched in the Major Leagues from 1959 to 1967. He participated in 235 games in the course of an eight-year career that included stints with the Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians. During that time, he earned 67 wins and 65 losses, accumulating a record of 668 strikeouts, with an ERA of 3.56 in 125 games and 1,218 innings pitched. Early years Kralick was born in Youngstown, Ohio, an industrial town with a strong amateur baseball tradition, and attended Michigan State University. Early in his professional career, he gained recognition as a pitcher for a farm team connected to the Northern League. In baseball, a double is the act of a batter striking the pitched ball and safely reaching second base without being called out by the umpire, without the benefit of a fielder's misplay (see error) or another runner being put out on a fielder's choice. In baseball statistics, a hit (denoted by H), also called a base hit, is credited to a batter when the batter safely reaches or passes first base after hitting the ball into fair territory with neither the benefit of an error nor a fielder's choice. Scoring a hit To achieve a hit, the batter must reach first base before any fielder can either tag him with the ball, throw to another player protecting the base before the batter reaches it, or tag first base while carrying the ball. The hit is scored the moment the batter reaches first base safely; if he is put out while attempting to stretch his hit to a double or triple or home run on the same play, he still gets credit for a hit (according to the last base he reached safely on the play).
