''Nasz Dziennik'' ("Our Daily") is a Polish language, Polish-language Roman Catholic daily newspaper published six times a week in Warsaw, Poland. It is connected to the Lux Veritatis Foundation. Its viewpoint has been described as right-wing to far-right (harking back to the prewar National Democracy (Poland), National Democracy political movement), and is supportive of the Traditionalist Catholicism "closed church". Robert Biedroń
Robert Biedroń (; born 13 April 1976) is a Polish politician, former mayor of Słupsk, and LGBT activist who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. Biedroń was a member of the Sejm during its 7th session (2011–2014). He's also a former member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. He was mayor of Słupsk from 2014 to 2018. Biedroń launched a new political party called Spring in February 2019, and was elected a Member of the European Parliament on his party's list on 26 May 2019. He is one of the three leaders of The Left (''Lewica''), a political alliance founded to contest the 2019 parliamentary election composed of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), Spring and the Left Together (''Lewica Razem''). 2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 Crash
On 10 April 2010, a Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft operating Polish Air Force Flight 101 crashed near the Russian city of Smolensk, killing all 96 people on board. Among the victims were the president of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, and his wife, Maria, the former president of Poland in exile, Ryszard Kaczorowski, the chief of the Polish General Staff and other senior Polish military officers, the president of the National Bank of Poland, Polish Government officials, 18 members of the Polish Parliament, senior members of the Polish clergy, and relatives of victims of the Katyn massacre. Andrzej Zbigniew Lepper (; 13 June 1954 – 5 August 2011) was a Polish politician, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture, and the leader of Self-Defence of the Republic of Poland political party. He was the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development between 5 May 2006 and 22 September 2006, and again from 16 October 2006 to 9 July 2007, in the cabinet of Jarosław Kaczyński. Prior to entering politics he was a professional farmer in the village of Zielnowo, Pomerania. He was a candidate in the Polish presidential election in 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010. Auschwitz Cross
The Auschwitz cross is a cross erected near the Auschwitz concentration camp, in Oświęcim County, Poland, which was erected to commemorate the 74,000 Polish Catholics who died at the concentration camp as a consequence of the Nazi German occupation of Poland during the Second World War. This included two canonised Catholic saints: St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe and St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. Carmelite nuns opened a convent near Auschwitz I in 1984. Prominent Jewish organisations attempted to pressure Poland to remove the cross commemorating the Polish victims. Jedwabne Pogrom
The Jedwabne pogrom was a massacre of History of the Jews in Poland, Polish Jews in the town of Jedwabne, Occupation of Poland (1939–1945), German-occupied Poland, on 10 July 1941, during World War II and the early stages of the Holocaust. At least 340 men, women and children were murdered, some 300 of whom were locked in a barn and burned alive. About 40 Poles, ethnic Poles carried out the killing; their ringleaders decided on it beforehand with Germany's Gestapo, Sicherheitspolizei, SS security police or Sicherheitsdienst, SS intelligence and they then cooperated with Feldgendarmerie, German military police.
