Nash County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 94,970. Its county seat is Nashville. Nash County is now a part of the Rocky Mount, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area, instead of the Raleigh, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Nash County was formed in 1777 from Edgecombe County. It was named for American Revolutionary War Brigadier General Francis Nash, who was mortally wounded at the Battle of Germantown that year. In 1855, parts of Nash, Edgecombe, Johnston, and Wayne Counties were combined to form Wilson County. Nash County Courthouse
Nash County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at Nashville, North Carolina, Nashville, Nash County, North Carolina. It was built in 1921, and is a two-story, rectangular, brick building in the Colonial Revival architecture, Colonial Revival style. It has a "T"-shaped in plan, with the temple-form main block flanked by small brick wings. The interior was remodeled in 1974. An expansion to the courthouse was started in 2017 and finished in 2018. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the Nashville Historic District (Nashville, North Carolina), Nashville Historic District. References
