''Narsi Bhagat'' is a Bollywood devotional biopic film directed by Vijay Bhatt, released in Bollywood films of 1940, 1940. The film, based on Gujarat's famous saint-poet Narsinh Mehta, contains his most popular bhajan, "Vaishnav Jan To, Vaishno Jan To Tene Kahiye Je Peed Parayi Jane Re", which was also the favourite of Mahatma Gandhi. Vijay Bhatt (born Vrajlal Jagneshwar Bhatt; 12 May 1907 – 17 October 1993) was a producer-director-screenwriter of Hindi cinema, who made such films as '' Ram Rajya'' (1943), ''Baiju Bawra'' (1952), ''Goonj Uthi Shehnai'' (1959) and ''Himalaya Ki God Mein'' (1965). He founded Prakash Pictures, a film production company and Prakash Studios in Andheri East, Mumbai, which produced 64 feature films. Bhatt was a founding member of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India. Durga Khote (14 January 1905 − 22 September 1991) was an Indian actress, beginning as one of the foremost leading ladies of her times, she remained active in Hindi and Marathi cinema, as well as theatre, for over 50 years, starring in around 200 films and numerous theatre productions. Narsinh Mehta, also known as Narsinh Bhagat, was a 15th-century poet-saint of Gujarat, India, honored as the first poet, or ''Adi Kavi,'' of the Gujarati language.
