Narre Warren North is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 36 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey local government area. Narre Warren North recorded a population of 8,033 at the 2021 census. History Before the construction of the Gippsland railway line, Narre Warren North was actually the location of the Narre Warren township. The construction of Narre Warren railway station, however, moved the township 2 km to the south, as happened with Upper Beaconsfield, Clyde North and many other townships. Reflecting this, Narre Warren Post Office opened on 21 January 1869 and in 1900 was renamed Narre Warren North, and Narre Warren Railway Station office (open since 1886) was renamed Narre Warren. Electoral District Of Narre Warren North
The electoral district of Narre Warren North is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly and includes the suburbs of Hallam, Narre Warren, Narre Warren North and parts of Berwick, Endeavour Hills and Harkaway. Narre Warren North was created as a seat with a notional Liberal majority in an electoral redistribution before the November 2002 state election. In the Labor landslide of that election, new Labor candidate Luke Donnellan overcame the notional majority to defeat Liberal MLC Maree Luckins, who had been attempting to switch to the Legislative Assembly. He was subsequently re-elected in 2006 and 2010, and again in 2014 after the 2013 redistribution slightly increased his majority. Clyde North is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 46 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey local government area. Clyde North recorded a population of 31,681 at the 2021 census. History It was named after the Clyde Creek, a watercourse between two early pastoral runs. Beaconsfield Upper is a town in Victoria, Australia, 45 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Cardinia local government area. Narre Warren Railway Station
Narre Warren railway station is located on the Pakenham line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Narre Warren, and opened on 10 March 1882. History Narre Warren station opened on 10 March 1882 as a single platform, just over four years after the railway line from Dandenong was extended to Pakenham. Like the suburb itself, the station was named after an Indigenous word believed to mean 'small hills'. In 1956, the line between Dandenong and Narre Warren was duplicated, with duplication to Berwick provided in 1962. The City of Casey is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the outer south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
