Narrabri Railway Station
Narrabri railway station is located on the Mungindi line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the town of Narrabri, opening on 1 April 1897 when the line was extended from Boggabri to Moree. Improvements were made to the station in 1920, with the shunting yard increased in size and the platform lengthened by sixty feet. Services Narrabri is served by NSW TrainLink's daily ''Northern Tablelands Xplorer'' service operating between Moree and Sydney. Narrabri
Narrabri ( ) is a locality and seat of Narrabri Shire local government area in the North West Slopes, New South Wales, Australia on the Namoi River, northwest of Sydney. It sits on the junction of the Kamilaroi Highway and the Newell Highway. At the 2016 census, the town of Narrabri had a population of 5,903. Because of the geography of Narrabri and the surrounding areas, Narrabri township was quite prone to flooding and fire. Recently, changes have been made to the river flow to improve overall safety. It is the centre of a major cotton-growing industry. Other agricultural industries in the area include wheat, beef and lamb. Nearby attractions are Mount Kaputar National Park, the Australia Telescope Compact Array at the Paul Wild Observatory (administered by the CSIRO) and a number of agricultural centres. Mungindi Railway Line
The Mungindi railway line is a railway line in northern New South Wales, Australia. It branches from the Main North line at Werris Creek station and heads north-west through the towns of Gunnedah and Narrabri before reaching Moree which for many years was the railhead before the extension to Mungindi was constructed. The line is currently truncated to Weemelah between Moree and Mungindi. Passenger trains still operate to Moree, and goods trains (mainly wheat) operate to Camurra. As of 1 September 2009, services have been suspended between Camurra and Weemelah. Boggabri Railway Station
Boggabri railway station is located on the Mungindi line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the town of Boggabri, opening on 11 July 1882 when the line was extended from Gunnedah. It served as the terminus of the line until it was extended to Moree on 1 April 1897. Coal There are a number of coal mines served by balloon loops in the Boggabri area, although these are beyond the immediate station yard. The Maules Creek branch line leaves the Mungindi line roughly north of the station, leading to the Maules Creek loader and East Boggabri Coal Terminal, while a separate balloon loop suitable for a single 1340m train is located adjacent to the main line from a set of points just beyond the Maules Creek branch junction. The Northern Tablelands Express is a passenger train service in Australia operated by the New South Wales Government Railways and its successors since June 1941. History The ''Northern Tablelands Express'' has operated from Sydney via the Main Northern line to various destinations in the New England district. The Xplorer is a class of diesel multiple unit trains built by ABB Transportation. Initially entering service in October 1993, the Xplorers are mechanically identical to the Endeavour Railcars, though feature a higher level of passenger amenity. All 23 carriages were built in Dandenong, Victoria.
