Narkoola National Park is a national park at Bollon in the Shire of Balonne of South West Queensland, Australia. It was established on 26 March 2010 to conserve significant species and diverse plant communities. The park covers in the Mulga Lands bioregion, with another marked for recovery. Bollon is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Balonne, Queensland, Australia. In the , Bollon had a population of 221 people. Geography Bollon is in South West Queensland, west of the state capital, Brisbane. Bollon is situated on the Balonne Highway, between St George and Cunnamulla on the banks of Wallam Creek. A stand of River red gums along the creek is home to a large colony of koalas. History Gunya (Kunya, Kunja, Kurnja) is an Australian Aboriginal language spoken by the Gunya people. South West Queensland is a remote region in the Australian state of Queensland which covers . The region lies to the south of Central West Queensland and west of the Darling Downs and includes the Maranoa district and parts of the Channel Country. The Mulga Lands are an interim Australian bioregion of eastern Australia consisting of dry sandy plains with low mulga woodlands and shrublands that are dominated by ''Acacia aneura'' (mulga). The Eastern Australia mulga shrublands ecoregion is coterminous with the Mulga Lands bioregion. Location and description Located in inland New South Wales and Queensland these are flat plains with some low hills. and infertile sandy soil with a cover of grasses and shrubs with mulga and eucalyptus trees.
