Nareau
Nareau (Gilbertese language, Gilbertese: "spider lord") is the creator deity in the mythology of the Gilbert Islands. From sand and water, Nareau created two primeval beings, Na Atibu and Nei Teukez. Together they brought forth several deities: Te Ikawai, Nei Marena, Te Nao (the wave), Na Kika (the octopus), and Ruki (mythology), Ruki (the eel). Eventually, Na Atibu was torn apart and his body parts became the world. Either Naraeu himself or a younger god with the same name created the sun and moon from Na Atibu's eyes, the stars from his brains, and the land from his bones and flesh. Na Atibu
Na Atibu is a god in the mythology of the Gilbert Islands. The spider god Nareau created Na Atibu and his female counterpart Nei Teukez out of sand and water. A sacred tree called ''kai-n-tiku-aba'' grew from Na Atibu's spine, and men and women grew from the tree like fruits. One man, Kouri-aba, shook the tree in anger, causing all the people to fall to earth and become scattered. Na Atibu and Nei Teukez gave birth to several gods, one of which was Nareau the younger. Na Abitu allowed Nareau to kill him and tear him apart so that his body parts could be used to create the world. His right eye became the sun, his left eye the moon, his brains became the stars, and his bones and flesh became the islands and trees. Gilbertese Language
Gilbertese or taetae ni Kiribati, also Kiribati (sometimes ''Kiribatese''), is an Austronesian language spoken mainly in Kiribati. It belongs to the Micronesian branch of the Oceanic languages. The word ''Kiribati'', the current name of the islands, is the local adaptation of the previous European name "Gilberts" to Gilbertese phonology. Early European visitors, including Commodore John Byron, whose ships happened on Nikunau in 1765, had named some of the islands the Kingsmill or Kings Mill Islands or for the Northern group ''les îles Mulgrave'' in French but in 1820 they were renamed, in French, ''les îles Gilbert'' by Admiral Adam Johann von Krusenstern, after Captain Thomas Gilbert, who, along with Captain John Marshall, had passed through some of these islands in 1788. Frequenting of the islands by Europeans, Americans and Chinese dates from whaling and oil trading from the 1820s, when no doubt Europeans learnt to speak it, as Gilbertese learnt to speak English and oth ...

Kiribati Mythology
Micronesian mythology comprises the traditional belief systems of the people of Micronesia. There is no single belief system in the islands of Micronesia, as each island region has its own mythological beings. Region Micronesia is a region in the southwest Pacific Ocean in a region known as Oceania. There are several island groups including the Caroline Islands, Marshall Islands, Mariana Islands, and Gilbert Islands. Traditional beliefs declined and changed with the arrival of Europeans, which occurred increasingly after the 1520s. In addition, the contact with European cultures led to changes in local myths and legends. Federated States of Micronesia mythology Anagumang was a (probably legendary) Yapese navigator who led an expedition in rafts and canoes five or six hundred years ago. On this expedition he discovered the islands of Palau, where he and his men first saw limestone. Anulap is a god of magic and knowledge in Truk Islands mythology an island group between Yap and P ...
