Narda
Narda is a Filipino rock band, formed in Quezon City, Manila in 2002 by drummer Ryan Villena, bassist Wincy Aquino Ong, vocalist Katwo Librando, and guitarists JV Javier and Ed Ibarra. Successive line-ups included guitarists Nico Africa and Tani Santos, and keyboardists Jep Cruz and Yaps Estagle. The band was known as a pioneering act in the Philippine indie rock scene from 2002 to 2007, one of the firsts to have recorded and released their music independently. History Ryan Villena (drummer) had already been playing in several bands in his formative years. He started playing with ''Tungaw'', a four-piece band which frequented Club Dredd in the heyday of the Filipino alternative music explosion in the 1990s. Wincy Aquino Ong
Wincy Gerard Aquino Ong (born February 4, 1982) is a Filipino musician, director, actor, writer, illustrator, and podcaster. He is best known as the songwriter for the bands Narda and Us-2 Evil-0, the director behind the films San Lazaro and Overtime and the actor who played Sven de Leon in the TV series Rakista. He is also the host of The Telebabad Tapes, with his wife Cj de Silva. Early life Ong was born in Quezon City, the second of four children. He attended the Ateneo de Manila for grade school, high school and university. In 2004, he earned a bachelor's degree in AB Communication. Work Music As a musician, Ong played in college bands before starting his career as the bassist and songwriter for the band Narda from 2002 to 2005. He was nominated for NU 107 Rock Awards' Bassist of The Year category in 2003. Club Dredd
Club Dredd (also known as Club Dredd Timog) is a night club that has been located in a number of locations in the Philippines. Since it opened in 1990, it has been influential in the Pinoy rock scene, and was considered a home by a number of bands that became the most popular recording acts in the Philippines in the 1990s. Journalist Eric S. Caruncho included Club Dredd on his list of "movers and shakers in popular Filipino culture the past 32 years," published in 2017. Leandro Locsin
Leandro V. Locsin (August 15, 1928 – November 15, 1994) was a Filipino architect, artist, and interior designer known for his use of concrete, floating volume and simplistic design in his various projects. An avid collector, he was fond of modern painting and Chinese ceramics. He was proclaimed a National Artist of the Philippines for Architecture in 1990 by the late President Corazon C. Aquino. Life and career Leandro Valencia Locsin was born on August 15, 1928, in Silay, Negros Occidental, a grandson of the first governor of the province. He completed his elementary education at De La Salle College in Manila before returning to Negros due to the Second World War. Typhoon Ketsana, known in the Philippines as Tropical Storm Ondoy, was the second-most devastating tropical cyclone of the 2009 Pacific typhoon season, causing $1.15 billion in damages and 921 fatalities, only behind Morakot earlier in the season, which caused 789 deaths and damages worth $6.2 billion. Alexis Tioseco and Nika Bohinc were film critics who were murdered on 1 September 2009 in Quezon City, Philippines. Prior to their deaths, the two had been living as a couple. Tioseco was a Filipino Canadian film critic and a film professor at the University of Asia and the Pacific. Recognized as an advocate of Southeast Asian cinema and as Philippine cinema's most passionate champion, he was named by the ''Philippine Star'' in 2005 as "one of the most important young people in the Philippines today" for his efforts to promote his nation's cinema. Chicosci (officially stylized as ChicoSci) is a Filipino rock band based in Manila. The band is currently composed of Miggy Chavez, Mong Alcaraz, Eco del Rio and Victor Guison. The group's musical style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis of experimentation from nu metal and rap metal to pop punk, post-hardcore and emo.
