Narberth Food Festival
Narberth Food Festival is an annual food festival held at Town Moor, Narberth, Pembrokeshire. Overview The festival was established in 1998 and is run by volunteers. It takes place in September over a weekend and has up to 150 businesses taking part, with 99% being local and Welsh retailers. It has up to 7,000 visitors (2017). There is an entrance fee for adults. The festival has food stalls from local and Welsh producers. There is a Talk and Taste tent where producers share their products and also a licensed bar. Other activities include celebrity chef demonstrations, live music from local bands, and activities for children. Previous musicians supporting the festival have included Jodie Marie who is from Narberth and other local groups such as the Saint City Jazz Band and Carmarthen Ukuleles. Elisabeth Luard (born 1942) née Longmore is a food writer, artist and broadcaster. She is Chair Emerita of the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery. She was born in 1942, shortly before her father Richard Longmore was killed in action as wing commander of CXX squadron while engaging U-539. Her mother, Millicent Baron, remarried a diplomat who took her to his postings in Uruguay, Spain and Mexico. Narberth, Pembrokeshire
Narberth ( cy, Arberth) is both a town and a community in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It was founded around a Welsh court and later became a Norman stronghold on the Landsker Line. It became the headquarters of the hundred of Narberth. It was once a marcher borough. George Owen described it in 1603 as one of nine Pembrokeshire "boroughs in decay". In 2011, the population was 2,150, of which a third are Welsh-speaking. Narberth is close to the A40 trunk road and is on the A478. Narberth railway station is on the main line from Swansea.
