Narail-2 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh since 2019 by Mashrafe Mortaza of the Awami League. Boundaries The constituency encompasses Lohagara Upazila and all but five union parishads of Narail Sadar Upazila: Bhadrabila, Bichhali, Kalora, Shaikhati, and Singasolpur. History The constituency was created in 1984 from a Jessore constituency when the former Jessore District was split into four districts: Jhenaidah, Jessore, Magura, and Narail. Mashrafe Mortaza
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza ( bn, মাশরাফি বিন মর্তুজা ; born 5 October 1983), Popularly known as the 'Narail Express', is a Bangladeshi international cricketer and politician who is the former captain in all three formats of the game for the Bangladesh national cricket team and currently serves as a Member of Parliament of Narail-2 district. Widely considered as the greatest captain for Bangladesh in ODI and T20 formats of all time. He started this test debut against Zimbabwe in 2001. He impressed Andy Roberts, who was then coaching Bangladesh and was drafted into the Test side - in his debut first-class game . He was the 31st person to have achieved this and the third since 1899. In 2006, Mortaza was the world's highest wicket-taker in ODIs, collecting 49 wickets. He was the Man-of-the-match in the match against India in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Shahidul Islam (Mufti)
Shāhid al-Islām ibn Shams al-Ḥaqq as-Sardār al-Jasarī ( ar, شاهد الإسلام بن شمس الحق السردار الجسري; 15 March 1960 – 27 January 2023), or simply Shahidul Islam ( bn, শহিদুল ইসলাম), was a Bangladeshi Islamic scholar and politician. He was a member of Parliament for the Narail-2 constituency, after winning a by-election in 2002. Early life and education Shahidul Islam was born on 15 March 1960 to a Bengali Muslim family in Jhiltuli, Faridpur, East Pakistan. His father, Shamsul Haque Sardar, hailed from Lohagara in Narail (formerly under Jessore District). In 1988, he received his Masters degree in Hadith studies from Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia in Karachi, Pakistan.
