Naomi Bentley
Naomi Bentley (born 1981) is an English actress known for her roles in '' White Van Man'', ''Primeval'', '' Grownups'', ''Dalziel and Pascoe'' and ''Casanova''. Acting career Bentley graduated from a three-year acting course at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in 2004 and has since been in demand for film, theatre and TV roles. She made her 2004 TV debut in an episode of '' Holby City'', followed by an appearance in '' Blue Murder'', in which she played a receptionist. Other early appearances included a leading role in the drama ''Burn'' at the National Theatre, playing Martha in ''Martha Loves Michael'' at the Edinburgh Fringe and the role of Leah in ''Beautiful Thing'' at the Sound Theatre. Bentley's other TV and film roles since 2004 have included WPC Maria Jackson in ''Dalziel and Pascoe'', Leonilda in ''Casanova'', Rachel in '' Grownups'' and Shelley in the Channel 4 film '' The Mark of Cain''. ''White Van Man'' is a British sitcom that was created and was written by Adrian Poynton and first broadcast on BBC Three and BBC HD in 2011. It began screening in March 2011, becoming the highest-rated launch ever for a sitcom on BBC Three. Will Mellor plays Ollie, a man who has to put his business dreams on hold while he takes over the family handyman business from his father, Tony, played by Clive Mantle. The series was filmed in and around Greater Manchester, including the Best Bet betting shop in Cheadle and Hollins DIY Store in Marple. A second series ran from 23 February to 29 March 2012. Early life Alexander was born on 3rd January 1971 in Hammersmith, London. Her father, Frank Smith, was a television producer and director on factual shows such as ''Panorama''; he died when she was still at school. She attended Godolphin and Latymer School in Hammersmith. At the age of 19, she left home after her A-levels and travelled to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to get a start in acting. Her parents wanted her to continue to university, but she turned down a place at the University of Manchester to take her first professional acting job.
