Nantes–Brest Canal
The Nantes–Brest canal (french: Canal de Nantes à Brest, ; br, Kanol Naoned-Brest) is a French canal which links the two seaports of Nantes and Brest through inland Brittany. It was built in the early 19th century, and its total length as built was 385 km with 238 locks. History Brittany started developing its waterway network in 1538 when it decided to improve navigation on the River Vilaine. The project for a canal throughout the province was conceived by an 'inland navigation commission' convened in 1783. When Brest was blockaded by the English fleet, Napoleon decided to build the canal to provide a safe inland link between the two largest military ports of the French Atlantic front. Building started in 1811, and Napoleon III presided over the canal's opening in 1858. This was the most ambitious canal project ever completed in France, 360km long with 238 locks. Pays de la Loire (; ; br, Broioù al Liger) is one of the 18 regions of France, in the west of the mainland. It was created in the 1950s to serve as a zone of influence for its capital, Nantes, one of a handful of "balancing metropolises" (). Châteauneuf-du-Faou
Châteauneuf-du-Faou () is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France. Geography Châteauneuf-du-Faou is located in the middle of Brittany, between Monts d'Arrée and Montagne Noire. The town is built on a hill overlooking the Canal de Nantes à Brest, which is the canalized river Aulne. Rohan (; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Morbihan Departments of France, department in Brittany (administrative region), Brittany in north-western France. Inhabitants of Rohan are called ''Rohannais''. It is the home to the House of Rohan, members of which included viscounts, dukes and princes and has had a prominent role in history of France, French history. Josselin
Josselin (; ) is a commune in the Morbihan department in Brittany in north-western France. History St Meriadek is said to have founded a chapel there during the 4th century. Much later Josselin became a stronghold of the House of Rohan. An alternative explanation for the location of the chapel concerns a labourer who in 808 discovered a wooden statue in the brambles which enabled his hitherto blind daughter to see. A chapel was constructed on the site of this miracle which subsequently grew into a church (parts of which date back to the twelfth century). A fresco in the church now recalls the Combat of the Thirty summarized below. Malestroit

It has several half-timbered houses. Twinning Malestroit, whose inhabitants are known in French as ''Malestroyens'', are twinned with the town of Jedburgh in the United Kingdom. However the section through the town in over 200 km long and barges moor up near the centre of Malestroit. It is possible to hire a boat to explore the waterway. The nearby village of St. Marcel houses a museum dedicated to the Breton Resistance movement. This is the place where a battle against the Nazis took place which was won by the Resistance fighters. Redon
Redon (; ) is a commune in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany in northwestern France. It is a sub-prefecture of the department. Geography Redon borders the Morbihan and Loire-Atlantique departments.
