Nanjing–Tongling Railway
Nanjing–Tongling railway or Ningtong railway (), is a single-track railroad in eastern China between Nanjing in Jiangsu Province and Tongling in Anhui Province. The line is long. Major towns along route include Nanjing, Maanshan, Wuhu and Tongling. With the opening of the parallel Nanjing–Anqing intercity railway in 2015, the line is mostly used for freight traffic. Line description The line follows the southern bank of the Yangtze River from Nanjing to Tongling. The eastern third of the line was built in 1935 as the Nanjing–Wuhu railway and the western two-thirds from Wuhu to Tongling was completed in 1968. In 2010, a second track was proposed for the Nanjing to Wuhu section. However, according to the latest news, this railway will remain single track but will be electrified, which will enable freight trains to carry more goods but not improve the average speed on the line. Tongling
Tongling (; former names: Tunglinghsien, Tungkwanshan) is a prefecture-level city in southern Anhui province. A river port along the Yangtze River, Tongling borders Wuhu to the east, Chizhou to the southwest and Anqing to the west. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,311,726 inhabitants whom 842,675 lived in the built-up (or metro) area made of 3 urban districts. The asteroid 12418 Tongling was named after the city. Jiujiang (), formerly transliterated Kiukiang or Kew Keang, is a prefecture-level city located on the southern shores of the Yangtze River in northwest Jiangxi Province, People's Republic of China. It is the second-largest prefecture-level city in Jiangxi province. ''Jiujiang'' literally means "nine rivers". Shanghai–Nanjing Intercity Railway
The Shanghai–Nanjing intercity railway or Huning intercity railway () is a -long high-speed rail line between Shanghai and Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province. and are shorthand Chinese names for Shanghai and Nanjing, respectively. The Huning intercity high-speed railway largely follows the route of the preexisting Nanjing-Shanghai section of the conventional Beijing–Shanghai railway and the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway. Construction of this high-speed railway began in July 2008. The line went into test operations in early April 2010, and opened for full service on July 1, 2010. The line has a design speed of . The journey time between the two cities has been shortened from 120 minutes to 73 minutes on nonstop trains. Nanjing–Xi'an Railway
The Nanjing–Xi'an railway or Ningxi railway (), is a major trunkline railroad in China between Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province and Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province. The Chinese name for the line, Ningxi, is named after the two terminal cities, ''Ning'', the Chinese character shorthand for the city of Nanjing, and ''Xi'' for Xian. The line is in length and comprises the Xi’an-Hefei section in the west, in length, that opened on January 7, 2004, and the high-speed Hefei–Nanjing section in the east, better known as the Hefei–Nanjing passenger railway, in length, that opened on April 18, 2008. In addition, a connection line in length was built in 2004 between the main line in Sui County and the Hankou–Danjiangkou railway in northern Hubei. Nanjing–Qidong Railway
The Nanjing–Qidong railway (), commonly referred to in short as the Ningqi railway (), is a higher-speed rail line in Jiangsu Province, China. Its common name is derived from ''Ning'', the one-character abbreviation for Nanjing and ''Qi'', which refers to Qidong, a county-level city of Nantong. Until 2019, the railway only ran as far as east as Nantong East railway station. On January 5, 2019, the line was extended to Qidong and it is now long. It runs along the northern bank of the Yangtze River, serving cities such as Yangzhou, Taizhou, and Hai'an. The Beijing–Shanghai railway or Jinghu railway () is a railway line between Beijing and Shanghai. The line has a total length of and connects the municipalities of Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai, as well as the provinces of Hebei, Shandong, Anhui and Jiangsu. Nanjing Metro
The Nanjing Metro is a rapid transit system serving the urban and suburban districts of Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province in the People's Republic of China. Proposals for a metro system serving Nanjing first began in 1984, with approval by the State Planning Commission granted in 1994. Construction began on the initial 16-station Line 1 in 1999, and opened in 2005. The system has 12 lines and 208 stations running on of track. It is operated and maintained by the Nanjing Metro Group Company.
