Namsen
or is one of the longest rivers in Trøndelag county, in the central part of Norway. The long river flows through the municipalities of Røyrvik, Namsskogan, Grong, Overhalla, and Namsos before emptying into the Namsenfjorden. The river is the namesake for the whole Namdalen region. The river traditionally has been used for floating timber down from the forests to the town of Namsos, where the sawmills were located. Today, parts of the Namsen are regulated by several dams. Overhalla
Overhalla is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Namdalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Ranemsletta (also called ''Overhalla''). Other villages include Melen, Skage, Skogmo, Svalia, and Øysletta. The population is concentrated in the relatively broad Namsen river valley at the center. Namsenfjorden
The Namsenfjorden or Namsfjorden is a fjord in Trøndelag county, Norway. The long fjord flows along the border between the municipalities of Namsos and Flatanger. It runs southeast from the Folda firth, between the mainland in the south and the island of Otterøya in the north, past the island of Hoddøya, to the Namsen river estuary in the town of Namsos. The banks of the fjord are mostly wooded and not very high. Near the town of Namsos, the Løgnin fjord arm branches to the south all the way to the village of Sjøåsen in Namsos. Namsos (town)
Namsos is a town and the administrative center of Namsos municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located on the north side of the mouth of the river Namsen, where it flows into Namsenfjorden. The village of Spillum lies across the river on the south side. The Norwegian County Road 17 runs through the town and just east of the town is Namsos Airport, Høknesøra. The town was the terminus of the Namsos Line from 1933 until its closure in 2002. The town is the site of the Namsos Hospital which serves the whole region. Trøndelag
Trøndelag (; sma, Trööndelage) is a county in the central part of Norway. Kraftverkene i Øvre Namsen ("The Power Stations in Upper Namsen") or KØN was a joint venture between the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) and Nord-Trøndelag Elektrisitetsverk (NTE). The venture started in 1958 and consisted of three wholly owned hydroelectric power stations in Norway and a partial ownership in one power station in Sweden, which opened between 1962 and 1965. Namsvatnet
or is a lake in the municipality of Røyrvik in Trøndelag county, Norway. The river Namsen used to be the primary outlet, but the lake has been regulated for hydroelectric generation since 1959 and part of the water is diverted south towards a power station. The lake is fed by three main sources within Børgefjell National Park: the river Storelva which comes from the lake Jengelvatnet, the river Virmaelva, and the river Orelva which comes from the lake Ovrejaevrie. The Norwegian Sawmill Museum
The Norwegian Sawmill Museum ( no, Norsk Sagbruksmuseum) is a museum located in the village of Spillum in Namsos Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway.
