Dalseo District (Dalseo-gu) is a district in western Daegu, South Korea. It borders Dalseong-gun on the north, south, and west, and Seo-gu and Nam-gu on the east. Camp Walker
Camp Walker ( ko, 캠프 워커) is a U.S. military base in Daegu, South Korea. ''Camp Walker'' was named in 1951 after General Walton Walker, commander of the Eighth Army who was killed in a jeep crash in December 1950 during the Korean War. Camp Walker, Camp Henry, and Camp George are the three U.S. military bases in Daegu, part of the U.S. Army Garrison Daegu. Camp Walker spans and contains military family housing for about 100 military and civilian families. Suseong District (Suseong-gu) is a ''gu'' (district) in southeastern Daegu, South Korea. It is one of the most prosperous and high-density areas of Daegu, and is the site of the city's most extensive hagwon district. The population of this district consists of those who have careers such as doctors, professors, judges and other high valued careers in Korea. Because of this, it is known for expensive housing and schools compared to other districts in Daegu. Suseong-gu shares its eastern border with Gyeongsan city, and looks across the Sincheon stream at Nam-gu and Jung-gu towards the city center. Jung-gu (Daegu)
Jung District (Jung-gu) is a ''gu'', or district, covering the downtown area of Daegu, South Korea. It borders most of the other districts of Daegu, including Nam-gu to the south, Seo-gu to the west, Buk-gu to the north, and Dong-gu and Suseong-gu to the east. The northern border is formed by the Gyeongbu Line railroad, and the eastern border by the Sincheon stream. Jung-gu is at the nexus of Daegu Subway Line 1 and Daegu Subway Line 2. Daegu Subway Line 3 will also pass through the district when it is completed. Seo-gu (Daegu)
Seo District (Seo-gu, 서구) is a ''gu'', or district, in western Daegu, South Korea. A major transportation nexus, it is transected by the Gyeongbu, Guma, and Jungang Expressways. It is also connected to the downtown region and to Dalseong County by Daegu Subway Line 2. The Gyeongbu Line railroad also passes through Seo-gu, but no major stations are located there. Seo-gu stands at the western edge of Daegu's urbanized region. It is bounded by the downtown Jung-gu district to the east, by Dalseo-gu to the south and Buk-gu to the north, and by the largely rural area of Dalseong-gun to the west. Dalseong-gun
Dalseong County (Dalseong-gun) is a ''gun'' occupying much of south and western Daegu, South Korea. A largely rural district lying along the Nakdong River, it makes up nearly half of Daegu's total area. It is divided in half by a narrow piece of Dalseo-gu that reaches west to the river. Like the other local government units in South Korea, Dalseong-gun enjoys a moderate degree of local autonomy. The county magistrate and council are elected by the local citizens, although their authority is sharply curtailed. The seat of government is located in Nongong-eup. The current magistrate is Lee Jong-jin. Dalseong-gun enters historical records in 757, as Daegu- hyeon, a subsidiary of Suchang-gun (modern-day Suseong-gu). Dalseong-gun became part of Daegu Metropolitan City in 1995, as part of a general reform of local governments. Gyeongsang Dialect
The Gyeongsang dialects (also spelled Kyŏngsang), or Southeastern Korean, are dialects of the Korean language of the Yeongnam region, which includes both Gyeongsang provinces, North and South. There are approximately 13,000,000 speakers. Unlike Standard Korean, most of the variants of the Gyeongsang dialects are tonal, which is similar to Middle Korean. Gyeongsang dialects vary. A native speaker can distinguish the dialect of Daegu from that of the Busan-Ulsan area although the first city is less than 100 kilometers away from the latter two cities. Dialectal forms are relatively similar along the midstream of Nakdong River but are different near Busan and Ulsan, Jinju and Pohang as well as along the eastern slopes of Mount Jiri.
